    Well no, AE and Vegas are two diffent types of software.
    One is a NLE (Non-Linear Editor), which means it's made to put (digital) clips into a sequence to make a movie.
    Basicly it's made to cut and paste clips together.

    AE is a compositor, which means it's used to composite effects, mattepaintings and/or text into your footage in either a 2D or 3D way, depending on your shot.

    Put simple, you do the special effects which you just can't do in Vegas inside of AE.
    And then you make the final product by cutting your AE clips and normal footage clips together inside of Vegas Pro.
