Expensive? Well, that's still a pretty cheap build.. I think it's a good investment to pay the extra 200 bucks for a comp that's still good after a few years.

The build above this post is alright, but I'd add another 2GB of ram if Vista.

Well your experience sucks, gunz isnt any new game so i guess thats what you have tried, not anything what actually requires something. Vista can easily use over 1 gigabyte of memory sitting in desktop so it would leave your game under 1 gigabyte. ... :/

In my opinion, I'd say AMD and XP.

AMD is cheaper and easy to use, same for XP, and in my personal experiance, Gunz runs better on XP than Vista because Vista hogs all your RAM.
