| Gunzfactorian | Dude Alpha, don't buy an overclocked video card, buy the standard one from Tigerdirect, it's like 130 I think, and use RivaTuner to put the clocks same as the Superclocked one, you will save a LOT, and will get the SAME EXACT performance, there is NO physical difference between these two cards, you can even overclock the standard video card to the best EVGA video card, the SSC, using rivatuner. |

| Gunzfactorian Soldier | Loool. You will not be able to play Crysis with decent fps; probably 30-ish on ALL LOW settings. COD4, probably on medium if you overclock your cpu. (by quite a bit too) Gunz, yes. To play gunz all you need is an fx card with a 2.4 ghz processor with 512 mb of ram. That processor is the **** by the way. Get the one mentioned in the above post. |

| Gunzfactorian | Yes, your processor is very old, i wouldn't even consider at a Dual Core, it's one of the first one's out. The reason I chose the E8200 for my friend is, it can EASILY overclock to 3.8 GHZ, with STABLE temperatures, and that burns ALL the core 2 duo processors out till this point at stock. E8500 is 3.1 GHZ E8400 is 3.0 GHZ E8200 is 2.66 GHZ, with everything else same speed, Cache size, everything, the ONLY difference is 8x, and the E8500 has a 9.5x, E8400 is 9x. |

| Gunzfactorian Commando | Quote: I do like the processor upgrade. I could probably shift some things around to get about 600$ for my entire setup. Right now I have everything at about $545 plus shipping. Although my processor would basically be a 3.0 ghz processor, not really requiring much overclocking, only the front side bus. (Should run stable since I have the cooler for it, no?) Although that processor is better, I won't argue with you there. I like my price. Also why not this hard drive for that build? Newegg.com - HITACHI Deskstar P7K500 HDP725032GLA360 (0A35411) 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives Basically SAME exact thing but bigger cache. Same price/size. I may consider the motherboard and cpu upgrade. |

| Gunzfactorian Soldier | I would suggest you tone down the processor a bit and add more RAM if you can. More ram is always good. I'm running an Intel Pentium 4 1.6A (YES, it is a single) overclocked to 2.3GHz, and I have 2GB RAM. I have no problem running games on this machine. I just installed an Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT 256DZ in here and most games run without a hitch on normal settings (and sometimes on high -- I can play Granado Espada without ANY lag on high detail and a large range). My other machine, however (still packed away from our move), has the same processor and a similar graphics card, but has 4GB RAM. Things run much better on that machine, and I'm pretty sure that it's due to the RAM. It also helps if you have an excellent power supply and good fans. Nothing will run correctly unless it sits at an optimal temperature. Heatsinks are good, too. I use volcanos in both machines. |

Also~ My laptop has a 2.2 Ghz processor, 3 gb of ram, and a Radeon 2400(hd) with 128 dedicated memory. Runs everything very smoothly on low with specular map at the 2-3rd lowest resolution. Gives me about 40-90 fps depending on the map/location on the map.(Only need 30 to avoid choppiness.) | |

| Gunzfactorian | I bought my dell about 2 months ago, 2.0 GHZ core 2 duo, 2.5 GB ram, 320GB HD, 512 MB 8600 GT. NO problems at all, and btw, no more then 2 gb memory is really needed, it's more for like programmers, games won't need more then 2GB, and toning down the processor..? lol...he is already at the worst dual core ever made... And I must let you know, getting a core 2 duo/dual core, will mess your gunz up, you will glide and stuff, your reload time will be a little bit higher, your meds will pick up slower at some points, but if you are not going to play gunz with that system, don't bother. I still say don't buy the already overclocked GT, buy the standard edition, the one clocked at 600/1500/900. AND buy EVGA, just because their warranty, it's lifetime, and even if you mess up your video card, overclocking, volt modding, fry it or what ever, it still won't void warranty, other manufacturers say it voids warranty for them, like BFG, XFX, etc.., with EVGA, YOU GET A NEW ONE FOR FREE, they replace it! I got mine within 14 days, I fried it overclocking to much, and they replaced mine with a brand new EVGA 8800gt, and I live in Canada, and their main place is at the states, so my shipping went through states and what not, and I got it back in around 9 days. Also, they have a step-up program, you give them your card within 90 days, and they let you chose a better/newer card, and you pay the price difference between the two! So, buy the normal EVGA 8800gt, and flash it with the bios of the Supersuperclocked one, or even the KO, or you can just manually adjust the clocks using rivatuner. BUT seriously, get an E8200 processor, if you don't you will SERIOUSLY regret it, that's my guarantee, your processor would be a BIG bottleneck, buying high quality/priced/performance stuff wouldn't be that great of an idea, if you got a processor slowing you down, sure CPU's dont have a BIG part in gaming, it's mostly your video card, but it's still good, gives you boosts in a lot of games! Also, when you get a beast ass computer, what happens is your often into overclocking it to its limits, just because your hyped about it, it happens to everyone, and almost always happens, with that dual core, your 3dmark06 score won't be that high either. Yes, you will be running a lot of benchies comparing with other people on the forums, I never thought I'd, but now everyday I am getting a higher OC, getting a higher 3dmark06, i have hit 14980 with my Q6700 oced to 3.8 GHZ, memory @ 916 5-4-4-12 @ 2.1 V, Video card - EVGA 8800GT standard edition @ 700/1720/1000 (2000). And I can't even hit the 15000 mark yet, maybe if I bring my Quad core to 4GHZ, but I am on air, i'm afraid to do so! Last edited by Kustomize; 06-28-2008 at 04:28 PM. |

| Gunzfactorian Commando | I'm definitely going to change my processor. I was talking to a professional today and told him about what I was going to do. I told him the processor and he was like "2.0 ghz thats weak man." Then I told him how I was going to turn it into a 3.0 ghz after OCing it. He said well if your going to do that you have to have some serious cooling, Since it's more than .5 performance increase. He recommended the Q6600. I looked at where you got your got your motherboard, I can't buy places where I HAVE to have a credit/debit card. I'm under 18 therefore I have neither. Anything with paypal works the best. ALSO: I have a AMD dual core processor and it runs gunz just fine, no lag, no delay in anything. Only a 2.2 Dual core processor. Also have 3 gb of ram. 128 Dedicated video memory.
