| Gunzfactorian Soldier | ^You planning on getting it; it seems like a really good deal, especially if it only costs you $10 shipping, that makes it what...under $120. He probably lives farther away from their stock place. I plan on building a new computer in February, friend of mine said that is when the duel/quad cores will significantly drop prices, and the 8800's nividias will too. I'm thinking the 6700QX(I hear the 6800/6900 are scams), 4GB RAM, High end motherboard, and 15k+rpm hard drive, Duel 8800s; all under 1.6k lol? (haven't thought it over too much, will have to wait and see what the market is like) |

| Member | Oohh, This is a thread I can really help in. I just built this computer about two-three weeks ago. I was saving for about 2 years (Dont ask, Im poor -_-) Anyway. I love the 7600GT. I bought the XFX 7600GT XXX edition with 256MB. 7600GT has 590/1600 (Fast) and I bought it for about 136 bucks on tiger direct, not including the mail in rebate of 20 bucks. Anyway, its pretty good. I get around 300-700 FPS on gunz full graphics 1024x768. I get around 50-100 FPS on CS:S. 70-100 on Garrys Mod. 30-100 on F.E.A.R. Let me see.. what can else have I played... Well anyway. Its a nice card. I love it. Also, I do not believe you need to get Direct10 card yet, even if you have vista. If you do get vista, you will probably upgrade in a year or so. Even if you do upgrade there wont be very many good Direct10 games out and if they are, your video card that you buy now (8600GT or whatever.) Wont be good for it. Get the XXX version of the 7600GT it will most likely outpace the 8600GT on directX9 games and when you do upgrade to direct10, that 8600GT will be useless... Get the XFX Geforce 7600GT XXX Edition. XFX GeForce 7600 GT XXX Edition 256MB GDDR3 SLI Ready PCI Express Dual DVI HDTV Video Card PVT73GUGD3 at TigerDirect.com 130 bucks + Shipping, and alot better then the standard or even extreme versions of the 7600GT Also there is a higher version too. But I believe its not worth the 20 bucks, but if you have the money its your decision. XFX and fatality worked together, getting the clock speed higher. The core is at 650 instead of 590, no increase in memory clock. 150 bucks + shipping. XFX GeForce 7600 GT Fatal1ty Edition 256MB GDDR3 SLI PCI Express Dual DVI HDTV Passive Heatpipe Video Card PVT73GU1D4 at TigerDirect.com Oh forgot to add my computer specs if you cared about my FPS. 1 gig of value ram (1047mb wtf? Maybe faulty but it works >.>) AMD x2 3800+ (Having problems with it, I should of got an intel -_-. I have windows 2000 so I cant get the drivers or the hotfixes.) 7600GT XXX edition 256MB. A peice of **** 450Wat powersupply that can go at any minute. (From the reviews, I heard to SUCKS. But it seems okay, bought the case for 20 bucks including this powersupply, that gives you an idea on how cheap it is. Also, in one of the reviews they said it cought fire when it was turned on. Anyway..) Also, the 7600GT XXX edition does not take a PCI-E cord. So you dont need to worry about if your powersupply has it. A piece of crap case I had to tape together. Some Really cheap 50 dollar MSI mobo. I bought this system for 300 bucks, bought a barebones kit from tigerdirect for 150, then the video card for 130 and then some fans and a CPU fan. The only thing I needed to add was RAM, a drive and an OS. Anyway, Hope you have fun finding your new card. I believe that 7600GT XXX is the BEST for the money, and I have researched ALOT >.<. I spent at least 25 hours researching my computer before I bought it. Last edited by Janamill; 07-31-2007 at 10:25 PM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Wow, a debate on 7600 and 8600, nice. Read something about the 8600 review in tomshardware, the 8600 was suppose to be a midrange card between 8800 and 8400. But the performance wasnt even half of 8800, and that directx 10 is support is just basic support. If you want to go the 7600 way, try source for a ASUS 7900GS Top series if the price drop. Its a factory overclocked 7900Gs with 256bit memory path. Im not sure about the pricing, but since the trend moving towards 8000 series cards, so a 7900GS card should be dropping price by now. And I think you need an additional power plug for the card if Im not wrong. |

| Member | Dont worry about repping me, I dont really care lol. I was just looking for a dual core fix when I was here. I dont spent time on forums, just games. So its no big deal. But yeah, Im glad I could help. I really thing this 7600GT XXX edition is very good. (at least alot better then getting 5 FPS on CSS with my old computer.) And, dont worry about the 128 bit memory bus, the 1600 memory clock makes up for that. Oh and, about the dual 8800GTXes or whatever, I think thats a waste of money lol. At least, for games for today. You should really just wait for the DirectX10 games to come out. Theres like what.. 2? 3? If you want performance for todays games you should (if you have the money) get two of the X2 7950s from XFX, quad core top of the line DirectX9 cards. That would be the BEST possible performance for todays games.. well.. with two SLI, there may be Quad SLI out.. god.. think of it, Octo graphics >.>Last edited by Janamill; 08-01-2007 at 05:43 PM. |
