| Gunzfactorian Guardian | Anger problems hmm? Well, if you're pretty much into gaming, I recommend you play some very intense, fast-paced games, preferably use a rushing or any class that puts you at the front of a battle. Gaming is kinda a good way to vent out your anger. Try channeling ALL that hatred into your gaming ; there are players who play better when angry than when they are calm. If you play slow-paced games or snipe/camp ingame, that's also fine, since you don't really need to get so tensed up and you can calm down a bit more easily. If you are into sports, take up something like boxing or American football maybe? Could use that anger for extra boost to your physical strength. Music is definitely a good way. Pick a piece of music or a good song you like and listen to it. Sing it out loud if you can. Basically, if you are angry, you have two options: Release it in a non-hurtful way or find some easy means to calm down, as long as they are very enjoyable. For me, I know myself that I tend to get a little depressed here and there. I found de-stressing myself in games, listening to some music and sleeping good ways to help calm myself down and eventually be back on track. Last edited by STM1993; 07-05-2008 at 12:33 AM. |

Doesn't work the same way for everyone, but at least that's my suggestion. Quote:

I was watching the twilight zone marathon on scifi network the past two days and I realized something I never paid much attention to, back in the day when you insulted somebody, they didn't **** a brick of rage, they usually remained calm and bested you or simply shut up. Now obviously these are actors and it wasn't real footage of people, but the concept is there. Now days if you told a superior that you wouldn't touch anything their "greasy fingers" have been on, I'm sure you'd be gone in a second. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah, especially when there's a voice chat function in the game. I used to play wow with one of my friends who I worked with for about a year. Everything would be fine until something bad started happening, like getting camped or something. He'd just get more and more pissed off the longer we'd play. And it's not fun to play with somebody who's just mumbling angry words into vent. If you're getting angry playing a game you should first sit back and rationalize why you're angry in your head, that's a good way to clam down because you usually realize it's just stupid to get mad. Sometimes I start feeling angry when some guy keeps killing me over and over and I just can't get him, then I realize it's dumb to be mad because somebody is better at the game than me, or just keeps getting really lucky. If you're still pissed off, just log off, play a single player game, or better yet, go do something else. Nothing ruins online gaming experiences more than angry people. The times in games when I have the most fun generally isn't when I'm doing really good and killing everybody or winning insanely good items very often, but it's when the people I'm playing with are all happy and having a good time. Not taking the game too serious. When it's like that we can be getting our asses beat down and still having excessive amounts of fun. Not to say that a really intense battle can't be fun, but in general it's just not as good as when everybody is pretty carefree. However it only takes one person to get pissed off to ruin the mood for everybody. Happiness is very fragile, you can become unhappy so fast. However when you're angry you generally don't just jump to happy in a matter of seconds. |

That's why I usually tend to play games that more casual gamers play, or older ones. They usually don't take gaming so seriously or are just matured enough to not find ruining other people's day fun. | |

| Gunzfactorian Soldier | How does one channel his rage into playing a game? Isn't your performance in most fast-pace games limited to the intensity level of which you play at? At what point would you start to lose your rationality when angry? What good are you doing to yourself if you're playing a game with a risk of losing and getting upset? I certainly wouldn't want to continue playing a game if I'm angry, and on top of that, pushing it when I start losing; I'd probably proceed to hitting the keyboard or punching the wall until it breaks. Unfortunately, I've come to the conclusion that my problem is that I want to get physical. I get an urge to just break and hit things whenever something upsets me, or it's not going the way I want it to. There's probably only one thing that stops me (barely) from breaking something: the fear of regretting the action which I've chosen, and consequently being unable to fix the situation. |
