Well trying it is one thing, but constant badgering is a completely different thing.

And by Jesus, I guess that's not a perfect example when you think about it...but I was thinking more along the lines of he had people who still were against him. And he didn't force them to believe anything really besides what they witnessed him do (whole bread and fish story curing diseases ect).

Hell is full of people that tell you that you are going to hell. No magic words about lord and savior are going to help.

666 is the beast, according to the Book of Revelation. But scientists found out it was really 616 a few years ago.

Also, if you're afraid of the number you suffer from Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia. Srsly.

Quote:
I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns, and seven heads, and on his horns ten diadems, and upon his heads names of blasphemy. 13:2And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his throne, and great authority. 13:3And I saw one of his heads as though it had been smitten unto death; and his death-stroke was healed: and the whole earth wondered after the beast; 13:4and they worshipped the dragon, because he gave his authority unto the beast; and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? And who is able to war with him? 13:5and there was given to him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and there was given to him authority to continue forty and two months. 13:6And he opened his mouth for blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, even them that dwell in the heaven. 13:7And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and there was given to him authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation. 13:8And all that dwell on the earth shall worship him, every one whose name hath not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that hath been slain. 13:9If any man hath an ear, let him hear. 13:10If any man is for captivity, into captivity he goeth: if any man shall kill with the sword, with the sword must he be killed. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 13:11And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like unto lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 13:12And he exerciseth all the authority of the first beast in his sight. And he maketh the earth and them dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose death-stroke was healed. 13:13And he doeth great signs, that he should even make fire to come down out of heaven upon the earth in the sight of men. 13:14And he deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by reason of the signs which it was given him to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast who hath the stroke of the sword and lived. 13:15And it was given unto him to give breath to it, even to the image to the breast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as should not worship the image of the beast should be killed. 13:16And he causeth all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the bond, that there be given them a mark on their right hand, or upon their forehead; 13:17and that no man should be able to buy or to sell, save he that hath the mark, even the name of the beast or the number of his name. 13:18Here is wisdom. He that hath understanding, let him count the number of the beast; for it is the number of a man: and his number is Six hundred and sixty and six.

Imo religion is nothing more then brain washing propaganda used on weak minded people who feel the NEED to believe in something or someone far superior that makes everything work because they can't explain it themselves.

Being force feed garbage like religion since childhood to believe that someone will make everything better by worshiping it and to bring others to believe it too, i can see why someone who does believe would fall apart if they were told that everything they knew growing up was a lie would make them feel the need to cut off any logic and assume it must be right.

Fact is, religion has always controlled masses to do what ever they want killing others who do not believe or wont convert " to save their souls. " pulling in billions of untaxed dollars every year. Religion is one of the worlds earliest form of "scare tactics" to control the mass with what i would call the earliest main stream media. If religion didn't control people then dictators would have no power, eventually the opressed would rise up.

Ever heard of "Divide and Conquer"? Military/Govt. Tactics 101, turn the people against themselves. Kind of what we do to our own people with mass media lies and what we're doing in the middle east right now. Why put effort into destroying people when we can make them destroy themselves.

My teammate continues to badger him.

I don't get why some religious people are like this.
I have an opinion, and I base my opinion on proven facts, I don't believe there is a god, however I"m not saying that there's no chance any sort of god or higher-being exists, I just don't have enough fact to back up any sort of opinion on that issue.
However, I don't go around telling people who think otherwise they're wrong. And I don't proceed to tell them they're going to a probably-fictional place of torture because of it.

If you're religious fine by me. If you believe frickin' Hilter died for you sins, more power to you. But don't try to force your beliefs on other people.

I just don't understand how people can be so think-headed that they can't realize their beliefs came from where they grew up and what they've been told over and over through-out their lives.

I went to a catholic elementary school (my parents aren't religious but they mainly sent me there so help teach me good morals ect, but also to let me see what it's all about) however I grew to hate it because even as a very young kid, I realized I was being told I basically couldn't formulate my own opinions and if I believe anything other than what they tell me, I'm a sinner and I will burn forever. That just made me mad.
But my best friend at that school had a mother who was the typical overweight strict religious mother. I hated her and eventually had to tell my friend that I couldn't hang out with him any more. He began to display characteristics of her acting very closed minded to other belifs and opinions held.

I just can't understand why people cannot understand that they're not always right. This is the reason so much blood has been shed over religion. Which is another reason I can't find a good reason for religion because of how ignorant people are.

I formulate my opinions on as much fact as I can, and when somebody shows me I'm wrong or displays evidence against my opinion, I begin to question my own opinion. I don't just sit there and ignore them and their side of the story just telling them they're nothing more than wrong.
