I was thinking that too, but wasn't really sure. I never really looked into the whole lisp deal, but I did always think that it was a social factor rather than any sort of biological factor. Although there are cases where it's puzzling because there doesn't seem to be any social influence of the lisp for some gays yet they still aquire it. That's what puzzled me about it.
Some people just choose to speak a certain way, and quite honestly you can change the way you speak completely. I remember when I was given some diction lessons (for acting), and how it influenced the way I spoke. I even started to sound different. So I guess that most homosexuals choose to speak like that because that's what identifies them. Gays looking up to other gays and trying to fit in.
