Success is a image of surrounding people that is often judged on amount of power achieved. Happiness SHOULD be the obvious choice, but so many people like to be angry or sad. The purpose of life to me, is to simply live it.

| Gunzfactorian Hero | ^Living life that way is bleak and a waste of time. Life is meant for achieving something, or trying to make an impact on this earth so that you (at the very least) live on in memory. This is why we write books, make art, spread our cultures. One only truly dies when nothing of them remains, not even a whisper. So, it is my goal in life to change something, make a difference, be happy with it and die, possibly to an afterlife of happiness as well. I think that if I can do something to affect even one person in a profound way, it's a life well spent, because that person will live on to remember me. |

There's really no point in making a difference in the world other than to progress humanity in some way (most likely technologically) and be remembered. How much does that really accomplish? Probably not much. |

Why make movies though then? You want people to know you and after you die you don't want to be forgotten, who does? It's natural for us as beings to want to be remembered. Overall though, if you aren't fulfilled, if you don't get everything out of life that you should, then you really aren't living life at all. We aren't robots, we have emotions, and we have a remarkable talent for building. Be it random occurrence or creation, we have a gift that nothing else on this world does and we use that gift to create culture and diversity, to make ourselves happy and die happy, knowing that we may die here but it isn't over until no one cares anymore. To say there is NO purpose in life is to say we may as well all commit suicide for all that matters at all. Dinosaurs, The Bible, The Pyramids, Democracy, Statue of Liberty....ect....The goal though is to be remembered, and he is. Maybe not as a hero, but just the fact that you can refer to him as a hero means that there is evidence that he was a hero at some point in time. Last edited by Colby; 06-19-2008 at 01:08 AM.

Hence mid-life crisis. People come to that point when their long term goals have been accomplished and they come to the realization that they've really accomplished nothing, and are no longer even sure where to go from there. Life still goes on, it's not like it's game over once you've finished all your quests. So what, you've accomplished all this, and now what? Okay, so people will remember you and you've progressed humanity's technology in some way. ...Yeah? And what? Nothing. You'll still eventually die, and probably at a moment when you're not ready, and once that happens that's the end of you. You'll only live on in the memory of those that knew you and what you left behind. The fact that I want to make movies and want others to see them only shows you that I'm part of a Western society, with the general ideals such. Were I born in some isolated African tribe my goal would probably not be the world's famous man. It might simply be to survive and live a relatively peaceful and long life. It's not all about making a difference. That's an ideology that's been pushed on you because of where you've lived and grown up.

Some people consider being on gunz(or any computer game) a waste of time. They believe that being out getting shltfaced and partying is a MUCH better way of living. There is nothing wrong with that. While others(like me) can stay at home on a Friday night, order a pizza. Watch a movie, play gunz or call of duty 4, or hang out with my girlfriend and would be COMPLETELY happy. People's perspectives of happiness are so different that happiness is merely an image. You can try making a difference in life if that is what makes you happy. We all are going to do what makes us happy, because we as people are naturally selfish like that. Even if we are trying to help others out, it can be perceived as selfish in some way, shape, or form. There will never be 1 answer to "what is the purpose of life". No one freaking knows, people say "well God knows". We don't even know if there is a God. The purpose of life is/always/and will forever be changing because emotions change on situations. People change naturally, your ambitions change. This is evident, so just live to be happy. You can live for the moment, you can plan for the future. The bottom line is live. (If that all seems nonsense above, then just ignore the post. It's 4 am and I'm tired, and when have I ever made a post that made since?)
