100% Agree with this statement. But the only reason he is good is because he devotes a lot of his time to writing raps and becoming good at it. He used to study a dictionary at night to expand his vocabulary. Freestyling is something that takes practice and work to get good at just like anything else.

A good example of real hip hop today would be the underground hip hop groups DPK(dead poets society) and one of the famous Jedi Mind Tricks.

DPS lyrics:

"This is a Hip Hop Ressurection! All these fake artists filling up the screen need to bounce question! Hip hop needs a face that aint basic, cause everything is sounding like the same ****, tasteless.Sorry man, someone had to say this someone had to play the part of Jesus and save this. I am that one who raps, spits real life out homie nothin' but facts!"

(Chorus)

I don' wanna, I don' wanna be like you,
Don' wanna do watch you do,
Ain' trying to act like a fool,
Just gotta keep my cool.
Agree with this wall of text statement as well. Most artists who are well known for club and dance music, are very crappy. They put so much emphasis in trying to become big and sell what people like, that they lose touch with who they are. Eminem is one of the people who hasn't lost this, he is still the crazy controversial rapper he always was. 50 cent on the other hand, is a example of a person who seems to have lost touch. When 50 cent first started rapping, it was about his life. Now it's "I'm laughin straight to the bank wit dis, ha haha haw"

In my opinion, an example of another good rap artist would be Lil' Wayne. Why? Because he takes everyone esle's music, and reproduces it to his liking. He's been in the rap game since he was 8-9 yrs old. He's still a very good rapper, and he gives respect where it is do. "The Best Rapper Alive" Is what he goes by, because he, like all of us, know that two of the best rappers ever are tupac and biggie. Both who have died, not to mention all the big names before them. Those are just the two I think of when I hear "Best rappers", BUT ANYWAYS

If you want to become a good freestylist, get a good vocabulary, and i don't mean just knowing a bunch of words. I mean knowing what words you can manipulate to rhyme with other words.

I've got some pretty solid wordplay so i can drop some serious punchlines when i have to, too. my problem comes in two areas, delivery and multis.

i can spit out single syllable rhymes for days, but multis require like 8 bars of pure filler just to think up a decent rhyme, and usually i'm reaching so hard for the rhyme that the punchline is weak as **** and my already shoddy delivery is totally off.

then as far as delivery,i i'm totally lost here. i don't even know what to do. Sometimes what i imagine would be a dope punchline gets almost no reaction from whoever's listening because it probably just sounds like more filler.

so, anyone out there know what i can do to improve on my rap game?

Practice, idiot. (not rly a joke) What the hell else is there to do? No magical way of improving it unless you practice and get a bigger vocabulary to rhyme off of.

And, uh. That guy sucks. I'd listen to some Grafh, Tech N9ne, The Saurus, Illmaculate, Royce Da 5'9, anyone is better than Lil' Wayne. <.<

writing your rhymes is completely different from coming off the dome. Em does write some decent music (not my taste) but his freestyling is weak (scribble jam '97)

The only thought that comes to mind is Eminem's freestyle verse "Ya my face is pale, but you look like you seen a ghost"

Em's freestyles are a lot better than some of the songs he writes.

Listen to
"Met a retarded kid named Greg"
"Paul Throwin Words out"
Any of the Rap olympics.

Ya, the whole thing about him kissing Birdman is sickening. But it doesn't influence his music which is what I like.

Not really..Many people who listen to rap consider Wayne to be one of the best rappers around right now. And the thing is is that he's been around since he was 8-9. He labels himself the "Best rapper ALIVE". He does have some shitty songs, but every rapper does.

Probably the same person who thought it would be cool to call his friend a 'dude'.
I love how you defended rapping and not black people. Racist bastards!!

On a side note, listen to these.

Flow:Lupe Fiasco
Vocab:Papoose
Delivery:Big L

If you are going for insults, Big L is definitely the best. I suggest keeping a notebook with some double lines just to keep ready if you, insist on getting serious about this.

BTW: Lil' Wayne is a different genre of rap. Theres rap, and then there is meaningful rap that doesnt have to do with all the sht that is mediated and instilled on the black race, as to define them as. The good rap, the second one, isnt as mediated/commercialized so you actually have to scavenge around for it, but most people in america are too fkin lazy and would rather listen to crappy rappers like lil wayne, nelly, 50 cent, etc.

I don't understand how you can classify Lil Wayne and 50 cent's rap to be non-meaningful. Lil Wayne gives out inspiration in a few of his songs.
"It's time to give me mine"
"The Sky is the Limit"
"Zoo"
"Help"(remix of the beatles, it just gets me hyped)
"I know the Future"
"World of Fantasy"
"Hit em Up"
These are just a few.
If you choose to listen to what constantly plays on the radio(things like lollipop, worst song ever) and other songs that are overplayed on the radio, then yes thats you. It's not showing laziness, it's showing lack of caring. You don't CARE what else that particular artist has to offer. I look for freestyles from Lil Wayne, and Eminem, and 50 cent, because I saw something in their style that made me want to continue to listen to them. To gain inspiration from them. Eminem's one of the Best rappers still alive today, because he has devotion. Lil Wayne has a killer inspiration and fire that makes his lyrics rememberable. "Lil Wayne Ima shine in the rain." How can you hear that and not gain inspiration? or
"When I hit the track i'm like an energy pack, got the speakers cryin out, Where the sympathy at?"
50 cent well..from what I hear of him, he has apparently been shot nine times. Only stuff that really ever comes out of his mouth. He's a bad example...

Yeah Straight off the corner Apple and Eagle
Brave hard ***** like the times Im medieval
Married to the block, Divorce the Cathedral
Standin on the corner selling Porcelean to People
Forced into evil, Its all in your head
It's also cerebral, call me Canival
You follow when i lead you
Straight to the needle
The barrel, the battle, the beetles will eat you
Mama named Cita, I love You Cita
Member when your pussy Second husband used to beat ya
Remember when i went into the kitchen got the cleever
He aint give a f**k i aint give a f**k neither
He could see the devil, see the devil in my features
You could smell the ether
You can see Cita
You can see the Cita, see the Cita in my features
I am her voice and the World is my speaker
Im speakin

Personally, my favorite Rapper is Eminem, I like his freestyles, his off the wall delivery.
"I throw a switch and electrocute you with an overdosage of Voltage"
"I got so many ways to diss you that i'm playful wit you, Ima let a razor slit you till they have to staple stitch you."

In my opinion, lil wayne is my favourite artist and freestyler. Noone can match lil waynes freestyling lyrical genious! However, his hit songs are not the best, his best stuff are his underground stuff. Only people will a real interest in rap will see lil waynes true ability.

As for all those random artist u listed toshiharu, lil wayne is on a level at the moment most of those will never reach in there career.

What im listening to right now is a song featuring lil wayne which shows his talent above all rappers:

YouTube - Brown Paper BagJ Khaled ft.Jeezy,Juelz Santana,Lil Wayne

As for his freestyles and stuff:
YouTube - LIL WAYNE TOP BACK FREESTYLE

and as for his mixtapes:

YouTube - Lil Wayne - The Leak - Im Me

Thats just a taster of how lil waynes is the best rapper alive. But like i said, this is only my opinion from leaarning and listening to rapping an freestyles over the years.
