I think it fits Gunz. It fits the time period, when shows were popular with a stage and backstage and stuff.

Gunz doesn't really have a time period, if you look at it is a fantasy world so alot of the times you will notice that there almost seems to be time skips between maps and armours. desert flame = present times while eternal blue = older period.

The main issues with your map is a few things: Presentation, Practicality, and Originality, Simplicity

Presentation: While it was a nice attempt it feels rather rushed and this is not a very bad thing as you said it is not finished yet, but to catch the audience's attention you have to give them more then just the concept. Lighting, shading, texture, and multiple camera angles are extremely neccesary as you are to expect many competitors with similar ideas and you must prove yours to stand above the rest

Practicality: do to the fast nature of k-style, you have rendered the entire middle area unuseable as you cannot k-style or d-style consistantly with so many obstacles in the way, also the chairs will make it very difficult to get a good shot of anyone within them making camping too much of a factor. The only real usuable area would be the stage and in front of the stage which is only a third of the entire map space which is a bit of a waste.

Originality: I have seen this general idea done before and actually implimented into a fan based map, the only difference was that it was a gym and the stage was only a small part of the entire map making it alot more interesting. Now I can see this as a small part of a huge map, but not an entire map in itself. When creating a map for gunz thing roughly about mansion sized or slightly smaller.

Simplicity: The concept is far too simple to the point that an average user using GKradiant could program this within a few hours including breaks. Seeing that we are looking for new gunz maps that are usually good or even better than the ones we have right now, you have to think about outdoing even the original developers. Although over complexity is too much, a quick idea like this will not be much of an eye catcher. You have to mix and match ideas, add innovative touches, do something that has not been done or is rarely done to increase the WOW factor.

Sorry if the critisizm is a bit harsh, I just wanted to give helpful advice. Since you want to win this I felt that a bit of contructive critisizm from a potential voter would not hurt. Every now again again we have to look back at our own art as if someone else created it and truely ask yourself what you feel about it.


Anyways that was my two cents, take it for what you will.

WOW! Thanks! This is probably the first time someone took their time to help me. Thanks a ton man! Hopefully we can meet in Gunz sometime, and I'll take you advice for future competitions

Really, this map looks like that theater map in "The Specialist" for Steam. It has the seats, the backstage, and all that. It's a nice thought, but the map for The Specialist is just stuck in my mind.

for textures all you have to do is press M to open up the texture creator, insert some bmps into the balls and your good
