Gunz History

Can anyone fill me in on the history of gunz?

I've played gunz when it was still international beta, then I quit for a while. I started playing again when the NA edition was released, but I quit again soon after. Now I'm getting sucked back into gunz yet again!

Anyways, I'd like an overview of it's history. I remember in the old days there were barely any dagger users and a fair share of pro k-stylers. Now I'm seeing topics like "In the old days, people didn't use double bfly" and "reload shot sprayers killed the game!". I have no idea what they're talking about

I guess I missed a revolution in gunz?

So, could someone make a timeline or something? If it's possible, can you include locust plague as well? I only know bits about it, like that it deleted loads of characters. But a while after people thought there was a new locust plague, but it wasn't a real one? After that there were others hacks..and I recall seeing a topic in which a hacker said he was releasing all his top hacks to the world, a last fight, because maiet said they'd get rid of all hacks in the next update.
