| Gunzfactorian Postcount Demi-God | Now that I have nobodies attention... International GunZ. When I first started playing GunZ, everything was fine. You could hit people, PB them, snipe them, play how you want, and still have a semi-accurate hit counter. But right around the time that hackers got bad, and they released x-trap (not blaming it on x-trap, just giving you a time period), the hidden lag first appeared. It started getting harder and harder to kill people with a trusty PB or with revolvers, or rifles... or anything really. It stuck around, and I would argue got worse, until IJJI gunz came out. When IJJI-GunZ was first released, I was confident to go into a game using revolvers, knowing that the hit counter was highly accurate at the time, and I stood a good chance at destroying other players from long range. If I hit someone 6-7 times, they would fall to the ground and die a slow painful death. Well, ijji gunz has gone a short way since then, and slowly but surely, the hidden lag is back, and we find ourselves leading on 50-80 ping once again. I don't even need to shoot my gun to know 50 ping is lag anymore, because when I am stabbing around when I'm moving, and someone happens to get in my way, the stab takes a huge lag before it strikes, and the hit doesn't happen for about 1/4-1/2 a second later. I just got ridiculously mad at a person in game, because they had 80 ping to me, and on top of that, were spiking to 120. After a little while of playing, I deduced that it was near impossible to kill him without having two people butterfly raping him while you PB him in the face. Well one round it came down to this player, a very mediocre k-styler, and a very pro k-styler on my team. The fight progressed, the mediocre lagger shot maybe 3 shots while the pro k-styler spent his whole ammo on the player, barely missing any shots. They go into the alley, and the pro k-styler eats a random PB and dies. So I start fuming. The whole rest of the game I'm trying to explain to this moron that if he didn't lag his **** off, he would have died to this player that was SO much superior to him. Anyways, it's not so much about that specific player, it's everyone. Unless you manage to find your freakin' neighbour, you have to lead shot now. I think it's disgusting, and wish dearly the lag would go away so we can play like the hit counter was during BETA. Accurate. Edit: Here are two screenshots that show how bad the lag really is on gunz. Attachment 14390 Attachment 14391 Those shots were taking within seconds of one another. -=- Discuss what you think is causing the lag, any comments/stories you want to share, or just ... stuff. This post helped me calm down a bit, thanks for listening. Last edited by Slap; 01-10-2007 at 12:08 AM. |

| Gunzfactorian Postcount Demi-God | Yes. A few of us have come down to the conclusion that it is caused by the hackers. Mainly because of the NICE hit counter accuracy at the beginning of BETA... no updates... hackers come... then OMG lag. Pathetic. |

| Gunzfactorian Postcount Demi-God | But the other side of the coin is if it really is the hackers fault... because the day after the latest patch... there were little to no hackers, and the lag was still there. Edit: Here are two screenshots that show how bad the lag really is on gunz. Attachment 14390 Attachment 14391 Those shots were taking within seconds of one another. | Gunzfactorian Commando | Finally a rant With Good Cause. I think its something to do with the new update. It seems that every time we have an update it lags the game more, maybe its something to do with the changes of code/addresses or whatever. +Rep for starting an Interesting discussion. |

| Gunzfactorian Soldier | Well, let me explain into further detail a little bit. What the update did, was implement the map Snow_Town, and also did some "other" updates. I know that one of those other updates was for quest mode, something about the scrolls and items, and they also did some misc. Now lets see, they PROBABLY used the old Snow_Town mrs file and just smacked that in there. The problem with that is that this GunZ version is 4.0, the Snow_Town mrs they probably put it was released when it it was 2.0, or so around there. Now, just because the mrs was compatible with something else, does not mean that it will be compatible with this version, due to the many changes and coding, etc etc. This is probably why you're getting the Snow crunching sound when wall running, the FPS lagg here and there, because it's either conflicting or the code isn't being handled properly, or the server or RAM can't handle it/debug it properly. This could ALSO be the cause for your GunZ closing out randomly, you were probably on the map Snow_Town, but if you weren't you were probably buffered out by somebody/some clan (if you were cwing). That's what I think is possibly the problem, because since I don't work for MAIET, I can't get into the system for any reason. |
