1. A DNS zone error

2. Someone tried to do a DOS attack

or

Both.

Both are/were very easy to fix. If it was just a DNS zone error, we wont have to worry about it again. If it was a DOS attack, who cares, they'll probably try again but they're easy to block because most DOS noobs are just script kiddies that don't know a server port from a hole in the ground.

FYI, we get threats all the time from people that think they're cool, and *yawn* we don't care. New server in a few days anyway.

Why? We rent our servers... the people that own them have a whole security devision and a dedicated legal team to "digital threats." It appears that someone did *try* to execute a DOS attack, and all of their information has been logged and sent to the the security devision. Its not in my hands anymore, so I'm not really worried about what it was. It took 5 minutes to fix once I saw it
