![]() | PUSHAD HAS RELEASED A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM, HOORAY PUSHAD! You can retrieve it from the GzF homepage. !!! The following is not a professional writing. It is the writing of a crazed, half asleep madman who has been deprived of GunZ for over a month due to what he has recently realized as no fault of his own, but MAIET's own incompetence. In addition to the fact that it has been 4 weeks since MAIET announced that its official forums would face downtime of 2 days, one of the more interesting stories circulating the web-waves also focuses on MAIET's incompetence. This is the now-infamous story of the "Blank Server List." Here's the info: Starting at the second-to-last-update (not including the implementation of X-Trap), people began to not be able to see the server-list. At the last update, this number of people increased dramatically. GunZ, which once housed nearly-full (2000 players is max) servers (6 of them) at its peak hours, now can sometimes offer one full server, one half full, and then three more with perhaps 200 players or less. The "core server" does not even exist as a playable server any longer. As one interviewee, who wished to remain unnamed, said, "MAIET basically succeeded in screwing with and pissing off basically everyone that they didn't piss off by missing their last 400 deadlines." He then imitated how he thought a conversation amongst MAIET's staff might progress, "Venister : Guntrix, wat yoo doinc?! Guntrix : ME NO KNO LOLS!1!1" While a tad uncouth, this anonymous player's words struck a chord with my heart. It has been proven that MAIET basically screwed us all over. "How?! You are making this up!" you say and ask. Well, read on. When the problem first became apparent, and more people took to the forums to try and discover solutions. There were many varied responses and remedies. People said to redownload the files, other people said to turn off anti-spyware programs and firewalls. Truth be told, this only worked for some people because they were lucky. These people were not actually infected by this "plague," but rather had problems completely unrelated to what the majority of the population-of-people-without-serverlists had. You see, many people are not dumb. They tried turning off anti-spyware and firewalls. They tried redownloading. I myself downloaded the files from GunzFactor itself, which many people claimed to work, and after multiple entire redownloads and reinstalls I still find myself with a blank server list. Pushad found the problem. From what we hear, he is somewhat of a "hacker." He had this problem, and worked out the solution. Basically, what he says is that MAIET is refusing to give the server list to certain IP addresses or ISPs. If we look at a clue from their new launcher image, their purpose perhaps was to keep Japanese and Korean players from playing. Way to go MAIET, you successfully blocked half of the United States and Canada from playing instead. Other players suggested that they might have been trying to block Brazil and the Philippines (and presumably India) from playing, as they will have their own local services soon. Oh wait, MAIET said that they would have their local services in December of '05. Well it looks like the forums aren't the only thing that MAIET is slow on. Focusing back on the problem at hand, even if they were trying to block part of South America, it appears like they started stopping IPs on the wrong side of the continent. We ask an anonymous interviewee with the problem, who just coincidentally happened to be the same player from before, if he had tried all the proposed solutions from various forums. "I reinstalled approximately 15 times, redownloading each time, sometimes from different sources, all from sources that people said worked. I disabled every protection on my computer. I tried everything, and nothing worked." When we later asked what he would say to MAIET if he could, he responded, "Well that's easy. I'd just say, 'The f***, MAIET?' In Korean, of course." In conclusion, amongst the above ramblings, swearing, and bashing of Asian-accented incoherency, you will find logic. MAIET has continuously failed to hold to any promise they have ever made, especially deadlines, unless they changed their deadlines at least 3 times, generally after they had already missed it. Hell, they even failed at implementing a communications director that would be able to help get the players what they wanted/needed, which was an end to all this inconsistency. No, wait, MAIET isn't inconsistent. They're consisent; it's just too bad that theyre consistent in being inept. This was said when MAIET could not control the hacking, and when GunZ was previously down for a couple of weeks during the server move, and it is being reiterated again, in a verse that brings more meaning now after recent events: If MAIET can't get a forum running in four weeks when they promised two days, if MAIET can't fix a problem that they are causing after a month, if the best use of their time is stealing the "2006 Challanger Championship" art from their kGunZ crew and putting on warnings to Japanese and Koreans to keep to their own games when they promised a new staffmember who would be more iGunZ-friendly, why would I trust giving my money to them? If we use our le3t translator, our interviewee would say, ![]() -Tophat Note: That Korean message in quotations actually just says, "Sexual intercourse and MAIET?" when put back through the translator from Korean to English. --- This is an article from the Astra Herald. The Astra Herald should soon be incorporated into GunzFactor, if Citizen ever reads his PMs. If you have a differing opinion, feel free to write your own editorial, and once the GzF issue of the AH is up and running, we'll put it on their with your name n stuffs. | Gunzfactorian Hero | ....and this is why I laughed every time someone had a signature with venister's avatar in it. Maiet has THE worst player support out of ALL of the games I have EVER played, free or not. The laziest (or dumbest) staff members too. Yes, I have played other free foreign games as well. Yes, even during beta testing. |

| Gunzfactorian Commando | As you said yourself - it`s old news. What`s the point of stating the obvious in such a lengthily manner? Do you think Guntrix and Venister will say "OMG a MAIET bashing article appeared at a fansite, we`ll go learn php and bring the boards up in no time" ? |

| Gunzfactorian Commando | First of all, GunZ is a free game, and so are the forums. We're lucky we even get a free game like this for free. Do you know what that means? It means they don't ow you anything. If anything, YOU ow them. Second of all, I don't get blank server spots, and I update constantly. It's either a crappy computer, or a bad internet connection, case in which you should stop playing. Third of all, the forums are free too. No one ever said they would be back up in 2 days/a week/2 weeks/a month/a year, and if they did, I didn't see it. EDIT: Also, Astra Herald would be my last choice of including in any staff related to GunZ. MY LAST. That means I'd even have HolyForce instead of him. For making such a rant, Astra Herald does NOT deserve to play the game. I mean what? The game is free, you don't pay for it, you only spend you're ****ing time on it, and if MAIET wants to take it down, then sure. They can do it. But if you're too much of a dumb-ass to complain that the owners of a free game took the game down, you're a dick as big as Astra Herald. Finale: 3 Words: GET. A. LIFE. Also, just because you dont have the problems doesn't mean other people don't have the problems as well. | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If Blizzard wanted to take World of Warcraft down, they could. What's your point? Of course the company that owns a game can close the game down at their will.... That's a bit obvious. It's my belief that the people here are just trying to point out that Maiet is NOT doing the best they can. We know absolutely nothing about what's happening! What does that tell you? It tells you that they're not trying their hardest to communicate with us. (Rhetorical questions for the win!) In short, we all know that they don't NEED to keep this game up... By all means, they should take it down if it's a burden. My point is that people should do their best in whatever they do, and Maiet isn't doing their best with iGunz. P.S. I'm still an active player in iGunz. I just find it a bummer that we're missing out on quest mode... Level 8 in jGunz - quest mode is simply THE BEST way to learn to butterfly like a God.... |

| Gunzfactorian Soldier | Well guys...one must remember that all of this is still in its beta stage. this isn't the full game. I'd understand everyone's outrage if this was the full game, but hey, it's not. Beta means just that. Beta. There are going to be times when the game is down for months on end, the forums down for just as long. Why? because they're still testing this game for International release. I'm not saying they aren't being slow...yes, they certainly are, but still..... This game is a free game, and it's also beta...so there will be messups....you just have to tough it and wait it out. THat's what I did. |

| Gunzfactorian Commando | I agree that it`s still a beta and all but there`re different ways of handling the beta stage. Look at Silkroad online - it`s an open beta now. They are constantly adding new servers to keep lagging to a minimum (although it`s not that important in a RPG). If a server goes down they fix it in like two days (or even overnight) and then post countless apologies on their homepage. There`re gamemasters in the game almost all the time during workhours in Korea. And they are also planing to sell premium items. But instead of loosing potential customers they are gaining them with their remarkable customer service level. |

| Gunzfactorian | There are a bunch of free online games out there. I have played some of them, and i played WoW for some time as well (beta ;p). It is so obvious, that maiet is just a lazy pile of dumbasses. Neither have they hold any deadlines (ever?) nor do they give a F* about iGunZ...at least it seems so. I myself would pay money, if we would get better customer support (lawlz - a customer support at all ._.' ), working servers, etc, b/c what maiet is doing now is just bullS*. Yes the game itself might be free, but maiet needs customers (prem items) to get any money. I wont spend my money for anything, if things stay so unorganized. |

First there is only 13(14 if you include guntrix) ppl working on this game. They have many deadlines which maybe delayed for some reason, but this is a free open-beta game. This means that they havn't made the game perfect yet. We are lucky that they would still be in open beta. In maple story they closed there beta for a while, so we are lucky that it's not a closed beta. There is no point in making this topic. We already now that MAIET is really behind there deadlines, but that doesn't mean you can flame at them. MAIET doesn't need more pressure then they already have. They get pressure from the ppl here and the ppl in the game. Even the hackers. Plus they get pressure from themselfs sometimes. My point is just stop talking about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I already f***ing heard this all over the place! ps.omg do I get mad fast this week.

blizzard may be able to take down wow, but they wouldnt cause they have paying customers people are so self centered maybe if you paid a couple of bucks for this game then yea you'd have the right to complain, but thats not the case .. their game, let them do what they want with it, as berserk said they dont owe us anything so they don't want to give 100% on the igunz project, who cares? its their game, let them do what they want with it you are free to stop playing anytime
