![]() | ok.. for GunZ I use Microsoft's optical trackball... I've used these a long time ago, so I'm used to them. The reason I have one now is because I literally did not have enough space to move a mouse around in my keyboard tray! Now I have a new desk.. but the trackball stays. http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseand...ls.aspx?pid=012 Well, I think it's worlds easier to use (and more efficient) than a mouse because: 1. you don't have to move your hand around, just quick flicks with your thumb, 2. with this particular trackball there are smaller buttons very close to the left and right buttons.. I use the mouse re-binder to map Melee to the Secondary Left Click and I map the two guns to Right Click and Secondary Right Click. Attack is still Left Click. I can reach these with ease and my left hand is free to dash and hit shift quickly for the Butterfly...you just have to clean the three contact balls on the inside that the trackball rolls around on after a few games to get rid of the crud buildup :P (speaking of which... -_-) left hand for WADS, shift, and spacebar. Right hand for Attack, weapons 1 2 3. slash shooting is a breeze.. you also have a good steady aim. then I switched to a mouse with extra buttons just to check the diff.. the trackball won for me. I found that the trackball is much better for shooting games, but a mouse is much better for those isometric or 2d-ish strategy games... maybe because the trackball is moving in a 3d space but a mouse is moving on a 2d plane... hmm... whatever. anyone else tried this? I know someone else that can use a trackball easily and another person who hates it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Now that I think about it, after getting used to it, it shouldn't be that bad. But that's basically when your finger doesn't slip when rolling it(mine used to every once in a while when I tried to do something quick). |

![]() | I think it's easier to move the sight around quickly and not have to keep track of where your hand is on the mousepad.. I mean, I was trying to hit this one guy who was dashing like mad around me and I had a mouse.. my hand got tied up in knots and I had to re-center... it isn't an issue with the trackball. Maybe I just got too used to the trackball and I'm no good with a mouse anymore! but seriously.. it just seems more efficient for a fast paced shooting game. Come to think of it, a mouse is better for the slow fps (compared with GunZ) like Battlefield, HL2, Wolfenstein. |
