| Gunzfactorian Soldier | Got it today, knowing that there's a slight chance it won't even be playable on my computer. Started the Single Player, because I want to get through that first before I move on to Multi-Player. Loading time didn't really bother me, but it was long (1-5 minutes) And here we go again, ****ty FPSs. So I go to 640x480 windowed mode, set all the graphic options to minimum, and look up performance tweaks. But I'm still getting really bad FPS. The tutorial was really choppy, I could barely move and finished the relay in 55.31 seconds. Cargo ship level was pretty smooth. Now I'm at this city, where I'm exposed to all the textures, buildings, and lighting. Lagging like hell, so I just Save and Quit. Now I'm just wondering if anyone could help me tweak up my config.cgf even more. I want something like Sol's config for GunZ; removing most background textures, lighting but keeping some of the character decals. Getting upgrades or a new computer isn't an option available to me, I could just throw CoD4 away all together, but not without trying to make it playable. PC Specs: Windows Vista (Basic) AMD Sempron 1.8 Ghz 512 MB RAM (Pretty sure it's DDR2) Nvdia Geforce 6100 (Shares 128 MB with my RAM) |

| Gunzfactorian Soldier | I can get through the Cargo Ship stage and the level after that. But the computer has a lot of difficulty going around outdoors of towns because of all the lighting and textures. It's only when I'm indoors do I get smooth FPS. Quote:
I didn't buy the computer, it came free with a three-year contract for Telus High-Speed Internet... my other computer is a lot worse (the processor is better). I tried taking the RAM and processor out of the old one to put them in this one before I found out it was an Intel processor with DDR1 RAM. ![]() | |

| Gunzfactorian Patriot | The only thing thats preventing me playing cod4 is my graphics card, which is the same as yours (Nvidia Geforce go 6100) and it sucks because i can't change it because it is built into my laptop. I'm hoping for a good external graphics card to be released... could take a while, and it most likely will be high priced. Can You RUN It? ![]() |

| Gunzfactorian Soldier | Your graphics card is actually better than mine, must be a different model. I don't see why you can't play Call of Duty 4. I can play some multiplayer and single player maps with 15-40 FPS, but some are barely at 10 FPS (although I use 640x480 windowed mode and tweaked my the config.cfg). ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | this is keeping the playability of the game intact while squeezing out as much fps as possible. you should achieve ~double the FPS you get with standard low settings. firstly make sure resolution is 640x480, anti-aliasing is off in options -> graphics in options -> texture settings they should be: filtering | bilinear texture quality | manual anisotropic filtering | dragged completely to left all the resolutions | low then navigate to C:\Program Files\Activision\COD\Players\Profiles\<your name>\ and replace config_mp with attached file this is for multiplayer, not single player; avoid the maps overgrown, downpour, and wet work (horrible maps anyway) and i think you should be fine. single player is boring, just play MP.
