Default HHS [Need advice]

Hi. Recently I've been trying to improve some of my old moves and learn some new ones to improve my game. I've been trying to HHS for a while. I think im getting there.

Heres a replay: Attachment 33467

I'm still inconsistant and have different success rates depending on the direction I attempt. I also notice that my HHS doesn't look like many of the replays I have seen, other players seem to have a far shorter, or faster, yoyo-hop.

Can anyone tell me if I am doing something differently or wrong? And any other advice on how to improve HHS would be mucho apreciated.

EDIT: After having another flick through scuba's k-style guide. I noticed what I might be doing is Eighth Step? In which case im a little confused by the difference?

Short answer: No that is neither HHS, or eight step.
It's more like a SS to geartapped HS, dunno about yoyo's perhaps a d styler or something can explain it better.

D= OMG your right, ~slaps head~ I guess it is SS, I must of fumbled my keys. I'm not 100% sure what gear tapped HS is, and scuba just took his guide down! D= I'll post another replay once I think I've got it.

Meh, to me, HHS is like flashstep with the bounce+dash and no switch back.

Default Re: HHS [Need advice]

Im confused, as i can no longer find a decent guide for HHS.

It was always described to me as a HS with a yoyo hop on the end, long long ago. What i see in replays looks like a SS with a mini bounce dash at the end. Isupose it can be done with either SS or HS?

What im having trouble with is the mini bounce and dash. I think I've done it by look a few times by luck. Any tips on getting that last bounce and dash down?

It's a half step with a bounce before the second dash.

So im actually jumping before i hit the ground fully and that kicks you into a mini bounce for the second dash? When should i jump for the bounce?

I'm sure people who say they learnt this accidently before they learnt to HS lie.

EDIT: OKAY! Thanks for your help, I think im getting there now. Only problem is I somehow broke the record function :/ So i can't take a replay for anyone to check. I'll try again later.

EDIT: Removed replays

Here are a few replays that you can check to see what the moves are. These includes hs, hhs, millionstep(hhs with rifle burst), yoyo hop and blinkstep.

This is so you can see what the moves are, I recorded them by going slightly fast and as slow as I could get the move without tumbling.

Edit: I watched you replay(First off don't use stairs, bad idea)
Replay 16: Thats hs correctly, not hhs

Replay 17, HS again, but the second dash is way too late, you basically dashing on the ground there.

HS: jump-dash-slash-switch to gun-dash-shoot
HHS:jump-dash-slash-switch to gun-jump-dash-shoot

Editx2: Messed up blinkstep replay, I replaced with the proper one.

See the difference?

Thanks castitatis. Those definetly helped. At least I'll have no trouble Linking into a YoYo-Hop when i get this down. The number of times I accidently do that. I'll post a replay when i get it down a little more consistently.

Thanks again.

EDIT: Finally think I have it!

Attachment 33485 - No shot.

Attachment 33486 - - With shot ( I messed up at the begining of the replay).

Now that i see when to jump and dash its actually fairly easy. ^^

Happy it helped, going to check those replays in a moment and get back to you on them.

Edit: Both look good, now you just have to work on speed and consistency and you can then move to other moves. If you want I'll give you a replay on how to do ppq, which is the next thing after HHS
You'll need reload shot down perfectly to do this move though.

The last part isn't a yoyo-hop.

It's just a dash done really really late. Window of opportunity for the late dash is way too big and it's not animation freeze like a yoyo. It's like one though.

Half half step is usually used as a way to shoot more with automatics, as an additional tricky way to move, a way to start reloading while moving (instead of shooting you just reload and do the half half movements, then do something else like tumble/walljump/etc.), and as a way to shoot from the wall.

Of course there are the advanced levels of using HHS like PPQ but that's really just a combo. Just learning to use it in combat and learning how to combine it with your other techniques or skills is my recommendation. After all, Kstyle is combo after combo after combo based on a few basic glitches.

Mach, if you're talking about my Blinkstep replay, then its a Blinkstep, not a yoyo. Its the only way to get a yoyo-like effect with fem shoty, so no its not a yoyo, just as close as you can get to it without using mrb.
Its also much harder to combo, personally "."

Also, I've found out rhhs throws off people a lot more then rhs, and since you can easily combo ppqs from them, spamming is actually faster then with rhs.
Not so bad really, although its just as awsome to dodge and use defensively.
