If only the actual game was as cool as the videos for it.

They messed up. There's only about 2 ways to do anything in the game.
One good way, and one bad way that still works.
Like Sentrys. If you're not a spy or a soldier with a corner to hide behind you're basically ****ed.
If you have some teammates with you, at least one of them is dead and another is hit pretty hard.

Simplistic strategy ruins the skill factor. I guarantee every time you play a map with both teams balanced skill wise it will be basically the same thing as the last time you played it balanced.
From sentry/sniper placement to where you will fight a seemingly neverending tug-of-war for the next point...it will be the same as before.

The only times I've had a unique experience in a map is if my team is either way more skilled or less skilled than the other team. And that's when it's just a quick victory or loss...so...it's hardly an experience.

Oh and I have to mention how bad they ****ed up the achievements to obtain new guns. Seriously, the medic achievements (unless changed) you'll NEVER get unless you get some buds to help you do it. Or perhaps just get REALLY REALLY lucky..like...insanely lucky.
Have your opponent take a screen shot of you taunting on his dead corpse? Yeah like many people bother to take a screenshot of the freeze frame in the first place.

No, it's not.
It would have been if they didn't spend so much time on it. Seriously...when you expect a sniper to ALWAYS be somewhere and sentys, dispenser, and teleporters to ALWAYS be somewhere, and 99.9% of the time they ARE...something's not right.

When I have to keep class hopping even when my team is using actual teamwork just to be able to get any progress in a map...something's not right.

It's so easy to predict what strategies will be used every time. 2fort...don't have sentys in your base? You're going to be scout rushed when the other team sees you lack engineers. Have sentries? A couple will go spy and a medic will get his uber up and take a heavy with him to destroy them. EVERY TIME (unless the other team is a bunch of noobs)

I will go play a single player game to get the same experience each time I play it...

I understand valve was pushing for teamwork online gameplay...like CS use to have when it first came out and then kids decided it was all about kills not winning maps.
However there are always players who just kill and don't do **** about objectives 8 out of 10 times leaving me to basically solo objectives...meaning I just have to keep class hopping as I progress through the map...that's not fun.
You have to have the solo element in the game because sometimes somebody just has to use their skill to do **** themselves because their teammates don't listen. And that's fine, but when I'm doing the same thing every time...okay I got this point as a scout, now they'll have sentrys at the next one located in 2 of the 4 available spots, I'll just go spy and destroy them and take the point.

I shouldn't be able to plan that out that well with out seeing how they're defending the area on my screen first.

Ever play a pickup game or a pug? I'm guessing you don't even know what those are.

And the achievements, you don't have to be really lucky, just takes time, and dedication, some achievements are also not what you would normally do, and are just for fun.

Now as of tug of wars are lame sentries?

That's why the implemented the goddamn uber charge, the demo man, the spy, the heavy, the soldier, and the sniper(for level 1-2 sentries, 1 shot with 100% charge), and the pyro, as they all can easily take out a sentry with an uber charge.

Play a pug, and you will start to know all of this. One aspect of the game that is overlooked in large publics games is respawn times, in servers with respawn times, you can eliminate enemies and act upon this, capturing the points when they cannot recover due to respawn times.

Also, you said that the only unique experience is when you were with a good team --- this leads me to believe you are not a very good player -- leading me to believe you have not played this game for long.

Play it a little longer, and explore the competitive side of tf2.

I played this game from open beta on and off only till about 2-3 months ago.
I've played online fps games from valve and other companies practically all my life. I know what I'm doing.
This game just has too much balancing forced into it making it a boring pile of mush.

I loved origional team fortress. This one is just too over produced.

I played on just about every server with decent ping and 10 - 20 players on it (32 is just too much for basically all the official maps...24 is pushing it).
The only thing that changed was how well people could aim and how smart they were while in firefights with me.
Which made me wonder why I didn't just go back to CS.

Dunno, I can't say I've ever NOT enjoyed a sudden death unless I died really quickly. Perhaps my opinions would change if they made a Sudden death only mode...that way if my team only focused on kills (most teams have at least half of the players ignoring all objectives) I would only have to worry about killing with them, not pickin gup their slack on objectives and doing it all my self.

Balancing forced?

So with this comment, and the one about you saying you only enjoy the game when you are winning with a very good team makes me think that you are a poor sport, and only enjoy winning

Now, you mention strategies being very easy to predict in 2fort

OF COURSE THEY ARE, 2 fort is a map that is symmetrical, and small, and tightly quartered, they are many strategies in an atmosphere of 2fort, play some real maps will you?

You probably also play in large 24+ player games, in large games it doesn't matter who is what class, so everyone will play the easiest classes, team work isn't needed and pretty much it is a team deathmatch instead of CP or CTF.

and I will again recommend playing a 6v6 pug/pickup, that is where you learn many more aspects of the game, and will help you appreciate and understand it more.

In pubs, there really is no teamwork, it's just who can get the most kills, there is hardly any competitive action in it, especially in 2fort like maps a/o servers with 24 + players

Default Re: Meet the Sniper Vid - TF2 Released!

No winning has nothing to do with it.
But not doing the same thing every game does.

Quit making assumptions about how I play. Seriously how many times must I explain my self.
I already said I play in 10-20 man games (not per team, 10-20 total players in each game)
I used 2fort as an example because it seemed the easiest to explain common things that always happen, not to mention I can't place the other map names I remember with the actual map (I didn't pay that much attention to remember if granery was the one with 2 capture points or 3).

ANyways, just because I don't metion every map doesn't mean I don't play them.
I've logged plenty of hours into the game. I know how to play it. I know what I'm doing.
I don't care if I win, as long as I'm having fun IN the game, the outcome does not matter.

It seems you try to argue your points by making stupid assumptions and twisting what I say to make it seem like I have no idea about anything except what I've specifically stated I do.

I have over 60 hours logged into the game when I add up my class play times.
Yeah sure, you can argue I'm not a pro...I'm not entering any tournaments obviously. But I shouldn't have to to actually enjoy the game.
I'll argue my point like you for a second...you're basically telling me I have to be a pro at the game to truely enjoy it. That's assinine.

The only reason I have 60 hours is I'd keep playing it when I had nothing better to do, but I always got bored of it after the first hour.

I think the addition of more weapons is a good idea, except for the fact that i have to do a ton of stupid tasks that are near impossible to do. Thus making me again dislike something they've done with the game.

Its just not good as a whole. There are little things they could tweak and change that would make it more fun...but when ever they get a good idea, like implanting different weapons...they **** it up by doing stuff like linking them to insane achievements.
