Default Making Blinkies With Photoshop(Tutorial)

Note: I am writing this guide from my knowledge, Obviously I learned from another source. So this guide might resemble others because there is only one way to do this with photoshop. I know ways to do it without photoshop look for another guide. Lets Begin
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
All you need for this is photoshop and imageready.

Start a new document. A good size to use is. 130 (width) X 80 (height) PIXELS.

You should now have a blank white document in front of you....I do not feel that need to capture this in a screenshot because it is rather simple.

Get the text tool out and make sure that the anti-alais is set to none. Well I like it at none you might not.

For those of you who do not know what anti-alias means, its the 2 a's here

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now write what you want your blinkie to say. The longer the word the longer the process....so i suggest you stick with a small word. For this I will use the example..."Padora".

Write padora out in black font on the blank document. Adjust it to the size you want..... Once you are happy with it. Using the text tool turn it white.

THE FONT SHOULD NOW BE WHITE AND YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SEE IT. DONT WORRY.

Now write click the font layer and click blending options. Something like this should come up.

Now check stroke and click the actual "Stroke" so now you are on a different page.

USE THESE SETTINGS.

1px black.....not too hard....Click ok so your back to the text that is now bubbled.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok now lets move on.....how many letters does your word have?

P-a-d-o-r-a has 6 letters.....
If i were to use M-i-k-e it would have 4 letters
If i were to use S-a-m it would have 3 letters.

So now that you know how many letters your word has click the text layer in your layers panel. If the layer panel is not up already go to Windows>Layers.....

After the text layer is click press ctrl + j for the amount of letters ur word has so I will press ctrl + j 6 times. Ctrl+J basically duplicates the layer. What we will basically do is give each letter a color on each seperate layer.

Dont worry I have a screany after the next step.....After you have the multiple layers up right click each of them starting from the top and click layer properties or easy way double click to rename. Rename the toppest layer the first letter (P for me)of the word you are making blinkie of.. The 2nd layer the next letter in the word (a for me in P-a-d-o-r-a). Then so on. You should now have 2 extra layers left over. The orignal word layer and "Background.

This is what you should have but with your word.

Now what I want you to do is click the eyes of all the single letter layers. Meaning not Padora and Background...you should have this with your letter though.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok now choose the color you want your blinkie to flash, I chooose Purple. The number of the color i choose is E300D0 incase anybody wants it.

Now click the top layer which should be the first layer. Get the text tool and highlight the actual first letter in your document. Click the color panel and choose the color you want it to be. Click ok. The letter should change to that color.

Now if the eye came up un-eye it and go on to the next layer. Do the same thing but with the next letter. That letter should now change color. Once you have all your letter colors proceed. ALSO MAKE SURE THE ORIGNAL WORD LAYER AND BACKGROUND ARE STILL EYED.

Now go back and clicking the eye on each layer starting with the top make sure the letter turns the color you want once you click the eye. Unclick the eye once it comes up and click the next layer's eye.

NOW GO TO FILE>>EDIT IN IMAGE READY.

Imageready should load up....Now we start with the actual animation.

First I would like to make sure the animation window is up, If it is not you can do this by going to Window>Animation. Also make sure the layer panel is up.

The animation window should look something like this.

Now I want you to click that little square button. Another frame should had came up. Do this again till the number on the top left equals the number of letters you have. Usually you need to press it one time less then teh number of letters u have because it starts you off with one frame already. Now you should have number of letters in your word amount of frames. I have 6 since Padora has 6 letters. Sam would have 3. Mike would have 4.

Now click the first frame and eye the first layer. First layer meaning the first letter layer you made. For me I would eye the layer labeled P. Now click the 2nd frame and eye the 2nd letter layer, If an eye comes up for the first layer once you click the 2nd layer uneye the first layer.. For me "a". Now do this till you do it with all frames and all frames have been eyed once... MAKE SURE THE EYE FROM THE ORIGNAL WORD LAYER AND BACKGROUND NEVER GET REMOVED.... SO FOR ALL FRAMES 3 layers should be eyed. The letter layer, The orignal word layer, and the background layer...

This is what I have so far..

Now you see where it says 0 sec in that window beneath each frame? Change that to 0.1. Do that for all of them now. So beneath each frame it should say 0.1

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! Hope I Helped...

Now go to file>Save optimised As> and save it.

Then go to www.imageshack.us and upload it there.

To use the blinkie in your signature go to user cp>edit signature> and put the "direct link to image" url between

-------------------------------------------------------------------
I can not find the blinkie I made while doing that tutorial but here is one i made using the same steps..
