| Gunzfactorian Patriot | Port Forwarding - aka ports opened It allows your computer to connect to other computer or server bypassing the router. This is usually used in all games. If you play igunz without your ports forwarded, you will recieve a lot of agent errors in game. However if you play IjjiGunz without port forwarded in match server, you can still connect through NAT. That's why some of you see the messages "NAT set for blah blah". That means either you don't have your ports forwarded, or blah doesn't have his ports opened. Fortunately IJJigunz lets you connect temporarily through NAT. NAT, however is slower at connection rate. Therefore yes, it does make you laggier without ports opened. But your ping won't directly show this hidden lag, because your connection to the server remains the same. Just your speed of recieving and sending information becomes faster, which decreases the ghost damage and lead shooting - when ports are forwarded. Unfortunately, the clan server is currently experiencing NAT problems. So if you don't have your ports forwarded, 85% chance you will recieve agent errors like I-Gunz. So port forwarding is essential to clan war until IJJi fixes this. Hope that helps, I might be wrong on some of the info but this is the basics I've been able to interpret so far. One more thing I should point out, opening up too many ports can lead to your computer getting attacked from outside sources. So only open the necessary ports. DMZ opens almost all used ports and is dangerous, if you have some sort of spyware or adware on your computer. But if you don't know what ports to open, and you have a clean computer - that's the easiest way. Because it automatically opens the requested ports from a 3rd party server or computer. |

| Gunzfactorian Patriot | It doesn't bypass router, your router only forwards them to your computer then. Thing is, you won't need to portforward if you do not have nat in gunz or agent error. Decent routers shouldn't have problems with windows xp or higher. |
