So you want to play GunZ through Firefox. It is fairly simple to make it possible.


WARNING: Ijji.com has to be the first tab in Firefox to allow launching of GunZ, Gunbound, or Gunster. Not sure why, but the button doesn't work unless its the first tab.

Step 1: Update to the latest version of Firefox. To be sure its the latest version, I suggest re downloading it.

One of the best abilities of Firefox is its amazing ability to adapt to different situations. User created mini add ons called plug ins can bridge gaps that other browsers can only dream of doing. One of the major pitfalls of Firefox is that it doesn't support Active-X Controllers, which Ijji has chosen as its prime source code.

So wait, you can't play GunZ through Firefox? Wrong

Step 2: Thanks to the efforts of Adam Lock, Active-X content can be viewed in the Firefox window. Download the latest version then restart your browser.

The version labeled 1.5 works with Firefox 2.0

You should now be able to play all the browser games of Ijji. However, this doesn't fix the fact that Ijji blocks Firefox users from using Gunbound, Gunster, and GunZ. This is due to the unique nature of their installer, which requires a Internet Explorer environment. Guess what, they have a plug in for this.

Step 3: Download IE Tab. This emulates a Internet Explorer environment inside your Mozilla Browser. Click the green install button and restart your browser.

Step 4: Configure IE Tab.

You will notice an icon in the corner of your browser now. It contains the Firefox symbol. Visit the Ijji site and right click the icon.

2. Right Click Firefox symbol.
3. Click Add (Ijji.com should be in the field to the left)


Congratulations, now you do not need to switch browsers when you want to play GunZ, Gunster, or Gunbound.

Malware (Spyware, Adware, Trojans, Viruses) are every increasing in their frequency, and ability to disguise themselves. This forum is a resource for removal of these unwanted pests. Following is a guide that will help you to remove many of the most common problems, and allow us to help you most efficiently. It may look daunting, but shouldn't take long to complete.

The reality is that Hijack This logs are getting more complicated, require more time to analyze, and the infections are more difficult to remove -- often requiring a multi-step process. Anything that you can do to help us before posting a log is greatly appreciated. Please acknowledge that you've followed these required steps (or our first reply will likely direct you here).



Preparation

CleanUp!, is a quick and easy way to delete temporary files from your system. Simply deleting these temp files may clear some infections, and will make running the following scans faster.

-Install and run. Click on the button labeled CleanUp!.
-When it finishes it will prompt you to restart Windows - there will be one or two files it cannot delete when Windows is running - however, they will be deleted next time Windows starts up.

Step One: Scan for Spyware/Adware

-Install the program and launch it. If you have a previous version of Ad-Aware installed, during the installation of the new version you will be prompted to uninstall or keep the older version - be sure to uninstall the previous version.

-First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Next, we will configure Ad-Aware to perform a full scan. In the Ad-Aware main window, click on the gear icon at the top of the screen to open the preferences window. In the General window, make sure the following options are selected:

1) Automatically save log-file

2) Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal

3) Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

Click the Scanning button on the left-hand side and make sure the following options are selected:

1) Scan within archives

2) Scan active processes

3) Scan registry

4) Deep scan registry

4) Scan my IE Favorites for banned URLs

5) Scan my Hosts file



Please also click on Select drives & folders to scan and select your hard drive(s). Then click the Advanced button on the left-hand side and make sure all the options under Log-file Detail Level are selected. Next, click the Tweak button on the left-hand side. Click on Scanning Engine and make sure the following options are selected:

1) Unload recognized processes & modules during scanning

2) Obtain command line of scanned processes

3) Scan registry for all users instead of current user only

Click on Cleaning Engine and make sure the following options are selected:

1) Always try to unload modules before deletion

2) During removal, unload Explorer and IE if necessary

3) Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot

4) Delete quarantined objects after restoring

Finally, click on Safety Settings and make sure the following options are selected:

1) Automatically select problematic objects in results lists

2) Write-protect system files after repair (Hosts file, etc)

-Click on Proceed to save the preferences. Then please click the Start button on the bottom right side to begin a scan. Select Use custom scanning options and then click Next. Ad-Aware will then scan for malware.
-Save the log file when it asks and then click Finish. Do not post the Ad-aware log in this forum unless requested.
-When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

Run the program. Click the Fix button to remove any malicious programs found.

Install Spybot and the DSO Exploit Fix. Start Spybot and select Update, Search For Updates, check the box next to each update and then select Download Updates. Next, select Search and Destroy, Check for problems and after scanning is complete, Fix selected problems. Finally, select Immunize and then the Immunize button to block common Spyware programs from installing.

No single program removes every threat. A multi-prong approach is best.

These programs may be ripoffs of existing free programs, produce false positives to entice you to buy the full version, leave actual Spyware installed, or at the very worst even install Spyware. Use the link above to see if you have installed any of these programs on your system. Uninstall any found.


Step Two: Viruses/Trojans

Even the best antispyware programs are only able to remove about 70% of infections. Also, the line between spyware and trojans is getting blurred. You can never be too careful with these, we recommend at least one online scan.

Ewido has been very effective at helping remove some of the more difficult infections. After installed, there should be a icon for ewido on your desktop. Double-click to run it.

Update ewido: From the main Ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.

After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"), click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run, but if Ewido finds anything it will pop up a notification, so it needs to be monitored. If notified, select clean and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.

When the scan finishes, click on Save Report. This will create a text file. Please then paste the contents of the text file, and post it with your HijackThis log.

Even if you do have antivirus software it can be compromised and corrupted by many forms of malware, so an online scan is a good idea.

Run the free online virus scan (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox).

Step Three: Windows Updates

An unprotected, unpatched Windows XP installation will get infected within minutes of connecting to the Internet. Because of this, we'll require you to do install critical updates before providing assistance in our forums. If not, we're both just wasting our time.

SP2 NOTE: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) has terrific security features, and we highly recommend everyone install it, however it should not be installed until your system is free from malware. Installing SP2 with malware present can cause many compatibility problems, or even prevent your computer from restarting. If your system has a malware infection, or if you're unsure, use the SP1a download link above.


Step Four: Reboot - Test
The tools above will completely clear malware from the majority of systems. Test your system to see how it's working.

Ok, I've seen a lot of people posting "my torrent stops at XX.XX%", and I just thought I'd clarify what's happening so people who are confused/angry/impatient will know what's going on.

I'll break this into parts: Seeders, Leachers, and Torrents in general.

<------------------ Section 1 ------------------>

Seeders
Definition: Somone who's constantly uploading the file. You establish connections with seeders to download 100% of the file. Without seeders, you will never finish downloading your file.

Info: Seeding can only be achieved with a 3rd party program (I reccomend Azureus for torrenting in general). Several popular clients are Azureus, BitComet, BitSpirit, and UTorrent to name a few. These programs are usually faster at connecting, and downloading than the standard gunz torrent.

<------------------ Section 2 ------------------>

Leechers
Definition: Someone who only downloads the file, and does not upload. Usually these people will stick around just untill their file is done and then quit torrenting. If you are connecting to a Leecher/Peer (peer explained later) You cannot recieve all of the file. You MUST connect to a seeder in order to fully download the file.

Info: Leechers can be connected to, but are only useful untill you've reached the same % as them. After that, they cannot provide you with anymore data, which results in the "My torrent stops at XX.XX%".

Torrenting

Peers: Peers refers to everyone who has not completed the file and is still downloading. Just for clarification, Peers =/= Seeders. Seeders continually upload (or seed). Leechers and peers use other peers to download the file, but no file can be completely downloaded without seeders. You can only download as much of the file as someone has, so if the peer with 99.98% of the file completed has the most, and no one else is seeding, everyone else can get to 99.98% untill a seeder comes along.

Reflection: Get yourself a third party program. If you're not sure which to use, google it. I strongly dislike any BitLord users as the "creators" of it simply ripped everything from BitComet. Seeders > Peers > Leechers, and in most communities, Leechers are forbidden (Example: www.demonoid.com). Without seeders, no one can ever completely download a file, so the more seeders/peers, the faster you can download. Peers is a term that refers to everyone who has not completely downloaded the file. These peers could turn out to be seeders when they finish downloading, or leechers. Better hope for the seeders. The more people you connect to, the faster you can download because the file is easier to get.

Q: I read your guide, but my files still will not torrent. Everything checks out (IE: firewalls are turned off) but it's not downloading. What should I do?
A:Simply ----->FOLLOW THIS LINK<----- to download an archive I made. All you have to do once you've downloaded the file is double click it. It will then prompt you where you want to "install" the file. Simply select C:\Program Files\MAIET\ or wherever you installed gunz originally and click install. GunZ should work for you.

Next, Locate the "Port Forwarding/Triggering" and click it. Click the Port Triggering Circle (radio button) and then click the "Add service" button. In the service name box, type GunZ. In the "Service user" dropdown box, make sure "any" is selected. Change the service type box to UDP, and Triggering Port to 6000. Set connection type to TCP/UDP and in the port boxes, type the ports you put in earlier (8000 for the first box, 9000 for the second box.)
Click apply, turn off all your firewalls and anti-viruses, and you're good to go.

Please note, all of this information was tested on a WGR614 v6 Netgear router.

Download all of those and install each one. Note that you'll probably only need the first one, but I recommend installing all of them. These are for reading Asian characters. The man01.xml file has korean characters in it, so that's why it wasn't loading! THE SOLUTION WAS SO INCREDIBLY SIMPLE; I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T THINK OF IT BEFORE. People who have Office XP + The Global IME don't have this problem because the languages are already installed.

It's all thanks to the GunzFactor forums, really. I noticed that in the Japanese section, instead of characters, I would see ???????. Then I knew that Asian languages weren't installed on the computer.

Wow, I can barely type. I'm so happy. I fixed this. Could somebody sticky this or put it up on the main website as a tutorial? This solves all of everyone's problems as far as I know! Try it out and let me know.

First things first

The first thing you will probably need to do, is get some tools that can help you tweak your computer and get ready for what I'm going to give you. What are these programs you may ask? They are safe, I have checked them out myself and I have them on my computer, don't worry, I'm not computer illiterate, I know more than you think .

If you don't already have WinRAR you can download it at their official site WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files

Download the correct one for your operating system, for Windows users, Winrar 3.61 will do.

If you DO have WinRAR already, proceed.

The Tools and How to Use them.

You probably think that Virus Scanners, Spyware tools and a Firewall will block out all the bad stuff. Well, that isn't completely true, your computer can be infiltrated from the inside, yes, registry keys, or "bad" keys can also cause your computer to run slow if they're just hanging around your comp. This program cleans your computers and makes BACKUPS of the Registries so you dont have to worry about losing important keys and such, which is what makes it handy.

You CAN get a free scan from Registry Repair, Clean Up & File Fix for Windows but that free scan will only partially fix your problems, so I'm gone through the liberty of uploading you a full version.

It should be defaulted to download to your desktop, or wherever you set your stuff to download to. Locate it and open it, it should be a WinRAR file, it looks like a purple, blue and green book Icon. Once that is done, click on the registrykey 5.5 file and find the registry5.5.exe file, highlight it and click Extract To...

Check where your extraction destination is, it should be defaulted to this:



To access that place, go to Start>My Computer> then just follow the path like it says, C:/Document and Settings/(your login name here)/Local Settings/Temp

Then find the registry5.5 file and you can make a shortcut to your desktop.

There you have it, full version of a 20 dollar program for free. ^_^

Run it and repair your errors. That should fix your performance problem and crashing problem, probably even graphic lagg.

Missing Dll files and What They Are

If you've ever turned on your computer and it says missing (name).dll thats not a very good thing. A Dll file is a mandatory file for windows to start up and run properly. If you want to learn more, you can visit DLL - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anyway, the file you're missing can be downloaded easily and installed using this site.
