[Tip] Please check your internet connection

Hi, my friend has this error. He's tried downloading from the official site and using that to torrent and he's also downloaded the full version from MegaUpload and Rapidshare. When he opens his launcher, he gets an error that says:

[Tip] Please check your internet connection

Anyways, I think the problem is that his Launcher can't connect to the internet...And he's on a laptop. Any help would be appreciated...

Had the same problem myself. If you use E-Z Firewall, you will have to leave it running while you open Gunz and tell it to allow the program. If you're not using EZ Firewall, you might should try downloading a 3rd party program like Azureus and torrenting using that. That will enable you to get all the files you need.

I believe that he has all the files he needs (AKA full version download) and its just that he can't connect to the internet with his launcher, not letting him get in-game. I may be wrong though, and the 'full-version' he downloaded might be older...

That's not all the files, there's no way you can play with those heh. You're missing all the files, that's just the "Launcher Update". You're missing the map files, x-trap, sound, and other things like that.

Try openeing an Internet Explorer, or the browser of your preference, and tell me if you can browse web pages.

He CAN browse pages, its just the launcher can't connect to the internet or it can't connect to a server or something. His internet is fine, I think the only problem is with the Launcher.

Might either be the launcher, or does he have a firewall running?

He does. Microsoft Firewall. And Gunz is unchecked.

Windows firewall. Gunz needs to be checked. If it's unchecked, that means it's not allowed acces.

He checked the box and it still doesn't work. Maybe its something with his wireless connection?

I've had problems with games before not connecting due to background firewalls (programs that have installed themselves onto your pc while downloading another program, movie, etc.).
Make sure that under the list of All Programs you do not see a single firewall running. There are many that will automatically block Gunz and various other programs from accessing your internet thinking that it is unsafe.

He has checked, and only Microsoft Firewall is on the laptop. He's turned it off and it doesn't work. He's checked Gunz and it doesn't work

I have a feeling the problem is not with a firewall.

Does he have Norton Antivirus or any other antivirus programs?

Could be the ports gunz is connecting to. This site might be helpful to you =)

Yes, is Norton involved? I had the same problem...the admin who installed Norton has to run Gunz.exe and allow it through the filter before it'll work. Norton = retarded.
