Unable to receive messages in-game

As the title says, I can't read what people type in the game. I know this because I've tried several different checks:
I've been in games with my roommate, who HASN'T forwarded his ports, he can read my messages and others' messages which don't show up for me. His messages don't show up for me either. I DO have my ports forwarded.
A friend of mine tried to whisper me in-game. He said that it said I was rejecting his whispers, but I never received any of his messages or anything ABOUT his messages. I whispered to him several times, but he said he never received any messages.
Computer specs are -
2.8 GHz processor
768 RAM
Windows XP SP 2
Always few to no background programs running
MLog -
Attached because it'd make the thread too long =(

Have you tried pressing "V" ingame?

Yes, I have. I'll try again for good measure, but I can't receive messages in lobby or waiting rooms either. Ack, I fixed it. Just needed to mess around with some options a bit.
