![]() | Buying New Computer: Building a new comp. Processor: Q9550 Quad core Intel running @ 2.83Ghz, 1333Mhz Video: GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Motherboard: MSI X48 Platinum LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard (SUPPORTS 1600Mhz Quad-core, and 1600 DDR3 RAM, Overclock ready) Ram: OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) (Timing @ 7-7-7-24) Will just re-use my old harddrive, decided against expensive raptors, so keeping it at 7400RPM. Can link to heatsink, DVD drive, LCD monitor (need a new one, old one is not working right, too lazy to RMA it), Computer Case, Keyboard (RAZOR tarantula). |

![]() | in a small chance that some of you guys know how to build computers too and back me up when I state that this is a real solid build. also its countless specifications that you need to compare and make sure connect and flow properly getting people to double check my work and selections never hurts. |

| Gunzfactorian | I will drop in my few cents, gimme your budget, also if you plan on using SLI motherboards (2 video cards). And also if your going to Overclock. DDR3 Ram is worthless, sorry, it's definitely not worth the price, unless you can get it for 100 dollars or under, thats for 4 GB btw. Core 2 Duo's are indeed faster then Quad Cores for GAMING, but, the newer upcoming games, use all FOUR cores of a Quad Core, so in the future, Quad's will be a lot better for gaming/application wise. Yes, get a Quad, it's more future proof. Give me your budget, your CPU is good, but you could go with the Q6600 and it wouldn't hurt much man, I personally don't think that processor is worth all that difference of price, that CPU doesn't heat as much, but REMEMBER, if you overclock, you CAN'T push it as much. My Q6700 stays on 4GHZ from 2.66 on AIR, no water cooling, just an air xigmatek fan. Tems aren't that bad either, they fiddle around 50-55 when gaming, which is damn good. Your video card is good, consider the 9800GTX+, since it's made for a competition against the 4850 and the 4850 rapes the 9800GTX, so yeah, get the 9800GTX+, also, get an EVGA video card, life time warranty, step up program (you give them your current card within 3 months and they give you a new card of your choice!), you can fuc up your video card overclocking, they send you a new one! I fried my 8800GT and they sent me a replacement within 14 Days! PM me if you need more info, I will check this thread time to time. |

Q9550 is alright, just get a proper cooler like Xigmatek HDT-S1283. Geforce, jajajaja........ go with ATI HD4870. Or HD4870 x2 if you have money to spend. Go with a cheaper motherboard, like P45 or P5Q Pro. Change the RAM to 4GB of 800mzh DDR2, DDR3 is not worth it. If you need a new hdd go with the WD640 , if you don't, alright.. Any DVD/CD drive is fine. Go with a random samsung. As for the monitor, pretty much any 2ms should do.. Try to avoid the Samsung Pebble ones. Vista 64bit would be good for OS. Case+PSU.. well.. Antec P182 and Corsair TX520W (Corsair TX650 if HD4870 x2) should do. | |

You can change the motherboard if you'd like, I got the EVGA 680i SLI, no complaints at all, LOVE IT. |
