No sound...at all

Well my mom's desktop got trashed by a virus so we had to completely reformat it.
It's working fine now but the only thing is there is NO SOUND at all

any help with this?

Most you can download onlineZ. Just gotta know what kind you have.

I install random ones untill one works xD.

I use realtek or w/e.

Click "sound" and it'll be listed there.

I tried realtek and maxaudio

I have like no listing of which soundcard I got and I'm scared of opening up my computer to see =[

"No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer."

Thats the error i got when i ran dx diag

If the speaker came with the computer, the original Windows CD would install the sound drivers

What's the speakers make and manufacture?

If the drivers are installed, roll them back to a previous driver version and re-update or uninstall and then install again from the device manager.

I can't find any of the CD's for the computer, it's like 4 years old and not even my computer

The speakers are um...sony vaio?

There are no drivers installed at all =[

Any other ideas?

Problem is, is the fact you have no drivers, so of course the sound won't work.

I had something of the same problem...
Most desktops have on onboard sound card on it thats already installed...
If you can't find it, look harder... Sometimes there's a cap over it.
