That way you will have 2 cores just sitting around doing jack**** and paid way too much for it instead of just waiting until games actually supported quadcore and getting it then for much cheaper, or spending the same price on an even better one. (technology prices drop fast) That's what pro gamers do. |

![]() | LOL @ AGP comment. Those are extinct now, unless you've got a Pentium 4 / Athlon XP rig. My pick for the graphics card: A Geforce 8800 GTS 512 MB OC edition (any brand, but I prefer BFG/XFX) or the ATI Radeon HD 4850. It even outperforms Nvidia's Geforce 9800 GTX. Just go to Anandtech for the review of the card. Here's the ATI Radeon HD 4850 on Newegg: Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100242L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards I'm sure that thing won't have problems with any game (except Crysis) @ 1920x1200, 4x AA, everything turned up. Both cards can be had for just $200. Just make sure you've got at least a good 600 W PSU if you plan on overclocking them, which is something I'm against. Another 5 FPS to the already insane FPS I get doesn't really make a difference to me now. Took me some time to realize that. But yeah, I kinda have to agree that watching how much 'oomph' you can get from your rig is fun. @ Aztec It's funny how you say 'desktop gaming rules' on the other thread where in fact here you are recommending a measly Geforce 8600 GT to AIpha. When it comes to desktops, mid-range cards just aren't enough for gamers. Last edited by Kasumi; 06-23-2008 at 09:23 AM. |

![]() | @ AIpha What ASUS card? The only cards you should buy now are Geforce 8800 GTs/GTSes or Radeon HD 4850s. The rest just don't offer a good price to performance ratio. Well, if your budget is below $200 you should just go with a vanilla Geforce 8800 GT or Radeon HD 3850. But you're getting a gaming laptop anyway right? So just go high-end with your video card. |
