AVG vs. Trend Micro

So like I think I got a virus today or yesterday or sometime i been stoned and my friends been on i don't remember but today I tried to get on soldier front while gunz was down and gameguard said something bout gamehack so it closed and messed my computer up so i restarted and asked my vent friends what was up and they said to install AVG and run it. I did and it found like 1200 infections in Trend Micro until i canceled the scan cuz it didnt sound right, so im wonder which is better for taking care of viruses and such? Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 or AVG 7.5
