Mouse and keyboard problems

Well yeah, i've been getting increasingly frustrated with my mouse and keyboard. They both keep randomly freezing during the game, my mouse seems to be worse, sometimes it can barely turn (ball mouse). Anyway the fact that they keep freezing makes gameplay very frustrating and short-lived (excuse the pun) both in the game (dieing) and it also makes me just give up playing due to the frequently occuring problem.
I was just wondering whether it is my computer with the problem or the keyboard and mouse itself, because each time they freeze it lasts for a few seconds and then I hear a *beep* from my tower, the same sound it would make when you press too many buttons down on the keyboard. Could it be dodgy wiring connections which makes the computer think more buttons are being pressed then there actually are? Or could it just be a problem with my computer.
I'm contemplating buying a new keyboard and mouse, but before I do, I'd like a bit of feedback just to see if it will be benefitial or a waste of money.

Here's a tip for testing the mouse.

Open up the thing and take the ball out (turn the little cover). Then, you'll see three rollers, two long and one small one that's diagonal. There will be like a line of crud built up on them. Clean that thing off (it takes some effort), and see if it's any better.

Yeah I have to do it all the time, i've even shaked it and got all the crud that built up inside of it out (or most of it), i've cleaned out my entire keyboard (removed keys etc...) and it seemed to help for like a day, but then they went back to being messed up.

IS the mouse and keyuboard USB? if so i think it could be something to do with a bad connection with the USB port. Every time u plug in a USB device on windows XP i kno it makes a beep noise which could be the mouse/keyboard re-connectin

Hmmmm ive just started the game up and no matter which server, room or channell i go to, my mouse screws up. When im fighting, my gun wont stop firing and if i change to sword it just starts charging up for the super attack, almost as if my mouse button is stuck down. I have tried cleaning all the contacts on my mouse but nothing works!!!! PLEASE HELP ME SOMEBODY!
