And erm, defragging can speed up your computer so I've heard; it's wise to do it once and a while to keep things clean. But this only quickens the process of (I believe) opening a new program. For example, when you download something from torrents all the file bits are scattered and it can be a bit messy, so defragging lumps it together so it's all tidy. It's much easier to just try and keep your HDD clear of any useless junk. EDIT: Hopefully these links can help you.
