Urrrgh My Sig Is Missing

I went to the User Cp, uploaded my sig pic, an pressed insert picture, and it made little brackets and such appear on the little text box above it. I'm like, "Yay," but all I see is asteriks now. ******* is the greatest sig ever. What did I do wrong? I'm retarded, tell me what do do pl0x.
