| Gunzfactorian | Just a quick question. What should I go with? Both are graphics cards, for those that don't know... 7600GT and 8600GT are roughly the same for performance, but the 8600GT has DirectX10 support. I don't plan on upgrading to vista for a while. Should I wait and get the 8600, or should the 7600 be fine? Right now i'm stuck with my 7300LE, and it's awful having to play games on low settings. The only game I can play on high right now is GunZ. |

| Gunzfactorian Commando | Get the one that supports direct x 10 if its not too pricey. As when you upgrade to vista you will not need to upgrade graphics too, you will be set. It will also play all current games on high no problem. Gamezman ~ |

| Gunzfactorian Soldier | Not really I see 8600GT for about 100-150. I saw a 7600 for 80, but what's 30-40$s to ya. XFX GeForce 8600 GT 256MB DDR3 SLI Ready PCI Express DL Dual DVI HDTV Video Card PVT84JUDF3 at TigerDirect.com |

| Gunzfactorian | They're both PCI-e cards, and they both support Direct X, just the 7600 supports 9, where the 8600 supports 10. I've looked into both, and besides the cost, that really the only difference. I can get a 7600GT for about 165 from NCIX, and an 8600GT for about 215. And Jon88, on that card, the shipping is 75 dollars. And, I don't just play GunZ. It's for more than that. Supreme Commander, Star Wars: Republic Commando, Doom 3, Halo, Battlefield 2142, Battlefield 2, Half life 2, etc, etc, etc. Just looking for some opinions, not like "Higher number is better, LOL." And gameguard is more processor and memory intensive, and doesn't use your graphics card. |

What about your power source, is it sufficient enough for one of those cards?

How bout this: XFX Computers - GeForce 8600GT Video Card XXX Edition - PVT84JUDD3 O, and I saw a 8800 for about 270, if your willing to go to about 300 you might consider it. The specs from that cards I've looked at say 8600 has a higher core clock speed, and faster memory.

=D And yeah, I got plenty of power. It requires a 300 watt PSU minimum, I got a 450. I've been reading a lot of reviews, and looking at benchmarks, and the 7600 outperofrms the 8600 by quite a bit. Out of the 6 test games they used, the 7600 beat the 8600 in 4 of them. I guess I am leaning more to the side of the 7600, as it's gonna be a while before any good DX10 games come out.

Legion Hardware I don't really understand why though... the 8600 specs say it's faster, but whatever.
