The Insanity Plea

This is commonly seen in movies, so I have 2 questions:

1.) Is it actually used?
2.) Why would anybody want to be in an asylum over prison anyway? Well, in prison you get ass raped, but in asylums you get drugged and pretty much stay in a cell most of the time. You also have to be around crazy people all the time, who would rape u it's just they're too drugged. Which would you pick? Prison or asylum.

You can get "cured" in an Asylum and released on parole.

Yes it's actually used.

I'd rather be in an asylum and have a chance of getting out then no chance of getting out of prison.

yes it is used. i believe that people over use it but on the other hand if i had to pick jail or asylum i would go asylum because you have a higher chance of getting out.

If you're actually insane and were insane at the time of committing the crime, then sure. If you're just grasping at straws, I wish you only being found guilty and enjoying some prison buttlovin'. It's not very nice to use loopholes in the punitive system.

I would definitely go to an asylum over prison. Beds are softer, food is better, and you get FREE HAPPY PILLS. Plus, the law actually, somewhat, still protects you; Prison... I don't really want to think about it.

Used in alot of cases.

If the man is truley insane, and commited the crime, or taken the blame for someone else, will most likely plea for the death penalty.
