| Member | Okey i thought there are very lil new topics :P so i thought i'll start a new one up. What's your thoughts and opinions on prophets and prophecies, such as the ones made by Nostradamus? I mean most of his predictions were very general and not detailed at all. and this makes it easier for his predictions to come true. Afterall, people can look at his prediction in many different views, further increasing his prediction to become true. And as for the predictions he made near the end of this quatrains, some people think of them as fake, because it's not his style to predict in such a detail. While others think that it was because he was nearing death that his 'power of prediction' increased ... <_< As for me, my opinion on fate and destiny.. is kinda mingled. Since you can say that as you do any activity or none at all, you are either: 1) following the destiny and fate planned out for you, or 2) choosing your own fate by planning your road ahead of you. 3) and maybe some other thing that i haven't thought of before <_<~ |

| Gunzfactorian Commando | IMO, The only people who can break away from destiny are the people who know what it is. If you wanted to break away from destiny and decided to go shopping today, but then you decided not to because you think your destiny was not to shop, but then you decided to do it because destiny could of made you think that your destiny was not to shop, but then you decided to not shop because what if your destiny was to think that you were supposed to think that destiny wants you to shop today. |

| Gunzfactorian Guardian | Fate is an illusion. The only way to describe fate is by saying: Everything that is going to happen, is going to happen. The entire thing is a paradox because the outcome depends on itself, so to find the answer, you need the answer.. So basically you cant solve it. We came up with fate only to explain luck (mostly ill luck) and unnatural flow of events. Realize that people seldom say, "My, I just won the lottery! Its all fate!" People always say, "Sigh it was his fate that he ended up in such a sorry state." People tend to have higher expectations of what is going to happen, and when they DO get something good, they do not really attribute fate for it, because they were already expecting it, but they blame fate for bad things they get. Therefore some people dislike fate, and think it is negative, when actually all it means is luck/probability... |

IMO, our only destiny is what we make it. I DO believe that there is a higher power watching over us, but ultimately, our actions are decided by only ourselves. | |

| Gunzfactorian Hero | Many people say that there is no fate, or destiny, you, yourself decides your own future. Well what if what you decide is your destiny. This is just another question, that will never be answered. There is no wrong or right to this answer. Just your own thoughts, and what you believe in. |

| Member | Well, fate is something that's supposed to happen in your future right? Therefore, wouldn't fate just be... the future that's supposed to happen? Then, it'll just be your future that's supposed to happen whatever you do, or in other words, RESULT of whatever actions you take. I don't think many people would be able to imagine fate as a mathematical solution, where the answer depends on whatever numbers(actions) you input, and thus, your outcome(fate) will depend on your actions, but always predetermined, since it's something that cannot be avoided. It can't be avoided, for once u put in the formula and numbers(action) your answer will change immediately, but for you to figure out that answer, you must solve it out, like a math problem.xD Looking at it in mathematical equation seems to best explain what i personally feel about fate and destiny =] And I do believe there was a physician long time ago, who claimed that using physics and other theories, one can predetermine their own destiny. This MIGHT be possible, if there was a such thing as an equation to one's life... but there isn't... so meh~ |

| Gunzfactorian Guardian | I for one don't believe in destiny, your the only one who can choose what you do and when you do it. No one governs your life saying "you will play GunZ today" or "you will walk your dog today". If everything was predetermined, your ability to choose would be pointless. |
