Domestic Violence

I've noticed over the past few months that the amount of domestic violence rises higher and higher... What do you think? Sure, most look down upon husbands that beat their wives, or vice-versa, but if so many look down upon it, why do so many continue to do it?

It seems that in a lot of music today (not really the genres I listen to on a normal bases) they degrade women, speak of abusing them, and what not. Along side, you can see domestic violence in movies, TV, etc. Is America endorsing domestic violence? What can we do to lower the amount of domestic violence?
