![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I saw this documentary a while ago, about global warming. It's kind of frightening if I think about it. Hm, what are your thoughts about global warming? Here's a trailer of this documentary. YouTube - An Incovenient Truth |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I saw "An Inconvenient Truth" too, but it has a habit of shocking you into taking action. I could express my doubts on the reliability of that documentary, but I guess the core truth does remain - earth's temperatures are rising. But predictions on the increase of temperature are made, I can't help but be skeptical. Seriously, scientists are barely able tell the proper weather in the present, how do they think they can predict the future? Global warming is happening, but a lot of it is caused naturally and we don't know how severe it will be in the future. We do have an impact with our Greenhouse gas output, but I'd say it's less than what is advertised. In my opinion, it's more to do with the earth's cycles (e.g. elliptical orbit), the tilt of the earth, the sun activity, as well as the tectonic issues like the sea floor variations that cause a difference in ocean displacement. |

Totally agree. Scientists can't find an explanation for global warming therefore they blame it on us. They say "we betrayed the plant" just to make us feel bad. =) | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm not saying humans have no impact; there is overwhelming scientific evidence that shows we are partially responsible for global warming and changes in the ecosystem. But, to put things in perspective ... although science points us to the direction that we are largely responsible, we have the whole human history that says otherwise. |

| Gunzfactorian Soldier | There is not overwhelming evidence showing that we have anything to do with it, and regardless, we cannot due much to stop it. The kyoto treaty (assuming all current calculations are correct, which they are almost certainly not) will *slow* global warming by .07 degrees celsius over the next century, yet it will cost around 500 billion dollars. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | To my knowledge, the country with the biggest co2 emissions in the world, is the US. The US has not signed the Kyoto Treaty, I think. Although many have, what needs to happen is a collaborative effort from all the countries in the world. If we are to make a positive impact, then from what I've heard (so don't quote me on this) is that we'd all have to convert to nuclear power. This isn't going to happen, but what I mean is that we can change - and this will affect the earth (although minimally). To deny all evidence is to close your eyes to something that is in front of you. No matter how little our influence is, I think it's better to realize that we have changed the earth's geography/surface drastically ... you just have to look outside your window and see the roads and cars zooming by. |
