Default Hurricane Katrina, discuss.

You morons might as well talk to the government like it's a single person. Oh wait! You do! His name is George Bush and he hates black people. Really? I thought that **** was a given. So let's recap. You get hit by a flood, government's not helping. Government's not sending thousands upon thousands of helicopters to throw down rope ladders and individually save each one. The government's not building a county-sized bucket to remove the water from where you are hit! So what do I suggest? The government must now provide every black citizen in America with a free membership to every YMCA swimming pool. That way, next time George Bush decides to hate black people, you guys have the ability to survive on self-reliance!

Seriously. What the hell do you morons think? How do you manage to breathe? This was a natural disaster, not a disaster. This wasn't 9/11, this was far, far worse. This was a city-scale flood with buildings, vehicles, everything these two contain just floating while the water level was rising. This is beyond the power of man to repel and you blame the ****ing government? I agree it was stupid Bush didn't respond fast enough, but he would have only saved a few lives! Blame the situation, or if you're a mindless drone, blame God. I'm sick of ****ing Kanye West, sick of Mos Def getting on stages and news stations preaching moronic things like government conspiring with a ****ing hurricane. Shut up already, you're not ****ing saints. I'm sick of all the people who treat them like so as well, as if they're wise enough to see the big picture.

No more. Shut up morons, I don't want to hear it.
Your opinions?

It's not the flood their complaining about. It's the way the government responded in providing help that is the problem.

Just imagine if the person who wrote that was in that situation and their mother and daughter were right next to them on the brink of drowning because they don't have the energy to swim anymore since they haven't eaten in 3 days. Would they say the same thing? That it's just a flood and they should just shut up?

Something to think about.

@ "Cerb's 8bitclan.com rant"
You guys are extremely ignorant.

Live, here's the problem. If you're stranded three days with no way or survival, sometimes you're just fuxed. The government isn't always CAPABLE of saving you. They're not capable of reaching each and every individual person whether people like it or not, and they apparently didn't even analyze the scale of the disaster that came. It's almost assumable the government couldn't help at all regardless of the leader! Also, in case you didn't read in depth, some of it was just jokes, like the YMCA pass thing; don't take me for a moron, that wasn't serious.

@Adam, sure. Buy me a new comp so I don't get 30FPS on GunZ and you're on.

That's a really complicated situation, Zeke.. The administration dug us in a hole so deep that we can't come out quite yet.

Ok. 2 ways you can look about this situation.

1. The Government's fault :
They didn't respond as well as they should have.

2. Not the Government's fault :
There is nothing you could have done about it.

Maybe if the government reacted quicker, they could have saved A LOT of lives.

How so? The government isn't the antagonist here. They didn't dig us in this big hole. I'm sure the government didn't just IGNORE the BIGGEST crisis at the time. Seriously, they probably were doing something behind the scenes, or perhaps something of greater importance.

I understand that Korean, but read my post. What I'm saying is why did the government get all the blame? If you listen to that stupid song "Katrina Clap", listen to what people like Kanye West have to say about it, it's like they have no perspective geared to any obstacle except the government's reaction. THAT's what my rant is about. Why were they so stupid as to immediately steer toward the government as the cause of their problems?

And about the Iraq comment. Right now, I believe they're planning to have a third division in Iraq to add to their Sunni's and Shi`ites. To enforce government or something. If they pulled out right now, the Iraqi's would be at civil war more than they already are. And let's not forget how this war started. On September 11th, we were attacked by squads out of Iran, Saudia Arabia, and Afghanistan. So in turn, we attacked Iraq? We lost a LOT of soldiers in Iraq and are actually losing the war in the long run for how badly everything was planned out. That's why it's a complicated situation...

Ok. The government got all the blame since there is no one else to blame. Think about it. Blame the hurricane? Blame the dam builders? Blame them selves? Hell, if they didn't blame the government, who else?

I'm not saying there was anyone else to blame, sometimes 'blame' shoudln't be done! Sometimes **** happens and it's up to you to deal with it. Sometimes you can't, and sometimes people can't help you.

I agree almost completely with that rant, but it really doesn't hit on the issues that matter. What matters is the ridiculous government spending on the disaster simply because the majority of the community was black-- come on, 2000$ checks to every person? People spent government money on shoes, TVs, computers, SEX CHANGES, etc. The government gave away way too much money, free trailers, etc. Don't tell me it was "that bad", I went through Ivan. Yes, katrina was worse and was pretty bad, but the spending and news coverage on it was ridiculous and people need to quit *****ing.
