wtf 2 years in juvey for stabing someone if below age 16

i was watching tv and they had some 14 year old boy stab his ex-girlfriend/killing her for breaking with him and he only got 2 years in juvey. what kind of sh1t is this? since he was charged as a minor or something

Imprisoning him until he's 30 makes him worthless to the society. The kid probably didn't know what he was doing. He needs MENTAL help, not a life in a cell. But since this is the US I guess he'll get weak help and comes out in 2 years as an even worse problem child.

Well we don't really know that he was mental. Anybody could use the 'I was mental' excuse to get off on a lower charge, like from murder to manslaughter. The guy would be like, "I didn't realise what I was doing at the time, so it's not my fault." But it is still quite amusing sometimes with people who attempt to play the whole 'I was mental' game, when they are asked questions like, "If you didn't know what you were doing at the time, why did you try to dispose of the body and/or evidence?", "If you were mental at the time, how did you manage to carry out this crime so methodologically?" and "If you weren't in the right state of mind to realise your actions at the time, why did you panick after you had committed the crime?"

Use the word "Insane" not "mental"

Anyways laws are differnt if you are a minor,

Not knowing not an excuse, which is likely not even the case here. You should be held responsible for your own actions. If you are incapable of doing so, then you need to be removed from society...hopefully sooner than later. If I was in charge of the legal system, I'd remove all of the "insanity" BS. He ended a life, he needs to serve a real sentence, not a 2-year juvie sentence... I think 2 years of juvie is a easy sentence for stabbing a victim who lives.
