Creation of April Fools

Why or how do you think April Fools was invented? i personally agree with the person in this link here

It came from somewhere around France. People in different regions didn't want to change their callender to make January the start of the new year instead o March/April.

So people from different regions that did change their callendar called them "April fools" and made fun of them.
