![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Alright. This may be my last guide, because recently I have decided to retire from gunz. The game overall is too easy, and after getting a 35-0, 41-0, and a 15-0(3 peeps each side, they left halfway through) score in a row I have had my fill. This is a guide of how I play step-by-step. Note: this is not a guide that states a list of moves and how to do them. This is a playing style, not a moveset. If you want to know what I used during this style, it was korean style mixed with some fun tactics. Index- 1.the Idea -a.how to use it -b.how it affects others. 2. The moments -a.when to use it -b.when not to use it. 3. The tricks -a.my favorites. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. The idea behind "bait and switch" What "bait and switch" means, is that you lure your opponent into a false sense of security, then turning the odds in moments of surprise and tactics. Of course, this doesnt work at some times, but it works well almost 90% of the time. -A. How to use it. Lets start off with your tools. Depending on your style of play, these will differ. Your main two tactics are these: Run away -Or- feign Running away is a huge part of "bait and switch". Running is namley the baiting, sort of like luring a fish in. but, you have to first set the hook and snag them before anything else. Doing this is easy. just make sure they see you. A great example of baiting can be used in caves or corridors. If a person is charging up behind a wall(to see if they are, dash just enough to see the blade. If you do, dash backwords immediatly.) dash forword, then dash back. Chances are the person will try to hit you with the shockwave, but miss if you are fast enough. Baiting requires that you are light on your feet. Or hands, I should put it. After the person see's you, and tries to attack, run away from them. If they decide to follow you, good. Step one is complete. Now the second step is to confuse them. If you didnt get them to follow you however, try attacking them or provoking them. Such as a quick bfly and retreat. Step two involves the trap set up. After running for a good solid 1-5 seconds of running, or finding a good place to combat them, get ready. This is the most inportant part of the whole strategy. When they finally start catching up(or let them, its easier and gives them more incentive to chase you), start attacking. This could involve turning right around(dashing forword while SS'ing, bflying, ect), jumping off a nearby wall, making them hesitate because of the sudden attack, and then trapping them in a fury of pain and bullets. Or whatever you like. But the crucial thing you have to relise is that the more they hesitate, or the more you make them veer off course of attacking you, the better chance you have of killing them. The attack must be sudden, quick, and furious. Here is a quick example: -man1 is around a corridor. While man2(thats you) is behind him. -Man2 dashes forword, slashes man1, then dashes backwords. -the chase is on! you dash backwords, forwords(remember, it has to be AWAY from him), ect keeping an eye on the target. -after man2 gets to a secure location or his own terf, he turns around, dashes forword, then slashes man1 upside the head. -man1 veers off, dashing in another direction -man2 chases man1, and guns him down -B. How it affects others The effect of it on other players is not very great, but effective. Depending on the opponent you are facing, the results may vary. If you are attacking a inexperienced rookie, the man may start spraying and trying to avoid you. The simple answer to this is to hide and run again, except for a shorter distance this time. He will chace you again, you strike again, rinse, repeat. Of course, there are always those special others who are unaffected by this tactic. These guys cause major problems, because they are not afraid to be hurt or otherwise. When you encounter one of these special few, bait for a short distance, then use wall jump and wall run to confuse and kill. (you attack, he attacks back, wall run, wall jump, come down on top of his character with a breaker to the face.) And then some people are just stupid..... If you see a guy just stand there after a feign, just ss his face with a breaker. No harm no foul. He will still be affected, but he will try to roll or dodge you, trying to shoot at the same time. Yes, he may hit you, but he may do more damage to himself than you.(ever see a lvl 50 roll into a ravine in dungeon? Its really funny.) 2. The Moments Every style has its limits. Yours is multiple foes, but there is a way to kill them. -A. When to use it. A average guy, sitting around or running(or any lone target). Shoot him or slash him. If he doesnt react, shoot him again. And if he still doesnt react, shoot him until he reacts or is dead. If he reacts, dash away. -B. When not to use it Your main enemy in this style is multiple groups of 3 or more. Sometimes when we bait, we drag along others for the ride. No biggy, just be sure to attract one and lose the others. Say two chase you. One in behind the other. Just run to them(swiftly while dodging bullets), slash the one in the BACK, then run away. There is a 50/50 chance the man in front will run away for more prey, or he will come back for another round. The man in back will be stunned, and you can come back and strike the first man if he is still there. First man: stunned for a moment, while the second man may run off. If they dont become stunned or they dont run off, run and hide as fast as you can. dont bother attacking, just hide for a few moments. They will just run off to attack someone else. Or each other, if you are in a deathmatch. 3. The tricks and tips of the trade Of course I still have some items not for sharing, but i will give you some tricks you can use for yourself. -A. My favorite tricks Here are some fun items you can try yourself for feigning. -team deathmatch dungeon. This is the Perfect place for bait and switch. My favorite map. Get to the red team, get to the top cliff of the stairs, and wait. When you see a little black figure come up the stairs, dash up and off the cliff to him. Intercept him in the air while he is climbing. When you are on top of him, SS. It deals good damage, and gives you a chance to speed back after him up the stairs. -dash and slash. I mentioned this earlier, but by simply dodging bullets up to the target, giving it one quick slash and dashing off is a perfect tactic to get their attention. If they ignore you, turn around and fire! nothing hurts more then getting hit in the back. -sneaky sneaky sneaky. Use your 1337 ninja sk!11Z and use the walls to jump off of and run off. Its a shortened version of the ss from the air, but it allows attacks and surprise feigns from the air. -TK. do it. Just do it. No one actually cares except for the guy who was caught with his pants down. -the ultimate feign: SS. When charging another, always consider the reflex actions of what they do. Dash forword, jump mid dash, then SS. But, Only SS to the point were the gun is out, then switch back to sword. This makes the target feel like they are about to get shot, and then they try to dodge it. dash->jump(middash)->SS->when about to fire with SS, release mouse button and switch back to sword->dash. If done with them seeing you, they will flinch and try to escape. Conclusion: Yep. Thats the way I play summed up into a small box. I may not be clear on some items, so be free to ask. Also, this tactic does work, and it is mean. Its used all the time in FPS and RTS games alike. Like luring a soldier into a trap of 5 auto cannons, or fooling a ship into a swarm of ships around the corner. Credits: Me(for being such a running pussy, but then learning it has benifits) God: obvious reasons. Gunz factor community: for being such a great bunch of noobs to test these tactics out on in-game. -Waterbuster (and if anyone has any grievances with this guide, just try it in-game before anything.) ![]() ![]() | Why would you SS, not shoot, and switch back to sword to make someone hesitate when you could just plain SS? Now they've hesitated, and also taken a shot. And why would you go up behind someone, slash them once, then run away instead of shooting them point blank, uppercutting them, whatever, something that will kill them instead of taking an extended period to do so. Baiting is one thing, but if you're behind someone, you don't slash then run, you deliver 12 pellets to their back. |

The SS is more of a decision to make on your own. Most of the time people will only respond to being shot 1-3 seconds afterwords. Basically they veer off after they pass you. You dont want a immediate panic to ruin your aim when coming back for a second strike, now do you?(and this is assuming you dont have any lag whatsoever) | |

![]() | I would suggest that SS would be a better tactic in this position. First off, it racks more damage... Meaning after you make your retreat and do your little turn around thingy, its possible you would kill him in just another shot or two. It makes life easier, and is just as suprising. I would say more confusing too. Why would someone SS and run away right when they are at your back? |
