| Gunzfactorian | I know most people know this already, just randomly summarizing Slashshot/Halfstep Tips and Guide Ok, firstly, for those of you who dont know what a slash shot/half step is, its basically a move that allows you to move at dashing speed while fireing a gun, and, in a half steps case, allows you to dash back into cover quickly. Slashshot - Jump => Dash => Slash (hold) => Change to gun => Gun will fire Halfstep - Jump => Dash => Slash (hold) => Change to gun => Dash (Right after change, like a yoyo step, for DStylers) => Gun will fire Flashstep - Jump => Dash => Slash => Change to gun => Change to melee => Dash Now, onto the tactics: Against Sprayers: Flashstep parallel to their line of fire (Can get faster then normal dashing, once you get good at FS), and, as they lack aim, they will barely hit you, but you'll get to them quickly. Once your close enough (I suggest 3 body lengths away from them), apply 1 forward half step, which will cause them to most likely try to run away (as theyre being slashed and fired at the same time), making their backs turned (for up to 5 seconds anyways), giving you enough time to use slash shot to catch up. Another common tactic is to use the pillars on the mansion map, simply half step in a "L" fashion around the pillars, works quite well, just watch your back. Against DStylers: I havent had much experience with DStylists, but what I have noticed is their rate of stabbing...is...INSANE...coupled with a few lunges and shots after you get stunned from the stabbing...its quite hard to fight...My best piece of advice is to move in and out of their lunging range, and attempt to drain their health with your weaker weapon, wait for them to lunge or tumble, then attack them with a few HS pbs..<.<;; - My clan mate is still scary >.<'', once he catches up with me, the stabbing rate is just unbelievable ==" Against EStylers (Snipers, Tumblers etc.): If the sniper is high above you, IGNORE THEM, if theres too many of them, IGNORE THEM. If theyre spamming you from a corner or something, refer to the Sprayer tactic, or corner them with your sword and cut them swiftly enough so they cant recover from the stun effects of the sword slash. Tumblers, however, are a different matter, theyre more random, in this case, just dash (coupled with jumps) around for a bit, find a pattern (usually a circle, forwardsxbackwards or sideways, or just around a pillar, like a merry go around), then go behind them and open fire. If they decide to go in the open, stay on the side and halfstep, then wait for them to come close enough for you to get a HS pb... Against KStylers: It really depends on skill, if you cant use the sword well, or dont have the speed, try to avoid it, if you do, still take caution. The majority of KStylists you see either use double revs, rev/shottie or double shottie, or rev or shottie with a rockkie. Different tactics for diff sets xD Dual Shottie - try to stay at medium range, L shaped HS's recommended, most ppl just HS sideways, L in random directions confuse them a fair bit Rev/Shottie - Depending on their skill with revs, if theyre good, you might want to get close, I know its opening yourself to pbs, but you WILL get ripped up if you stay at long range (Revs hurt) Dual Revs - Stay at close range, ive played with revs myself, and Ive realised its pretty hard to aim at close range with revs (maybe its just me, I dunno), just never crossover your previous dash during HS's With a rockkie - Always go in and out of medium/short range, if theyre hasty, they will most likely end up damaging themselves a lot more then they do to you. If they paired with a rev, stay on the short range, although rockets will probably take you down with him if youre not careful. If paired with a Shottie, try staying at medium range, L shapes again, just try to keep the moving backwards part at a minimum. Lastly, with all Rockkie users, never be in direct contact with a stretch of wall (splash dmg) Afterword: I will not be responsible for any exp loss or deaths if you refer to this guide, it is simply suggestions, if you follow you are agreeing to taking those risks. ~RoselineMay P.s. a good guide for learning basic kstyle - Full Kstyle Guide with Replays, Tips, and More P.p.s. in simple terms, DONT FLAME ME FOR DYING!! ![]() | Hmm, not sure if this guide is really necessary, but good try trying to enrich the GunZ community. The thing is, you can't really generalize by play style that much. The way you have it, d-stylers don't seem capable at all, when in reality, they can be and usually are just as good as k-stylers (if they're not actually k-stylers anyway). Also, tactics against enemies should usually encompass all possible moves that you can use, not just narrowing it down to a few. Like in my case, against beginners who spray, I usually rss to cover or a wall in one direction, and then go up the wall slightly to pass over their stream of fire. They sometimes die before I reach them, which is when I just spam dbf and pb. Even if I have to reload, I can just tumble sideways and walljump to avoid their fire, not taking any hits. Anyway, I'd advise you not to post in the Bounty Stockpile, as only the famous people on the forums are ever really acknowledged here. I am not one of them. T_T |

It's amazingly annoying though >_> but it becomes a habit. I wish someone would make a program that presses reload after every shot :O | |

| Gunzfactorian Patriot | Lets just say, HS, HHS etc don't replace SS. Personally I didn't find any of this useful, not because SS is something i've been able to do for a long time, but because it just isn't that useful. Another good try at a useful guide. Unfortunatly you make too many generalisations and assumtions about peoples play styles and are far to general about how to use it. I'd just say don't be discoraged, tactical guides are by far the hardest guides to make as tactics are so varried. I also imagine that you lack some of the experience needed to make such a detailed guide atm. Last edited by An Amateur; 04-28-2008 at 05:52 AM. |

| Gunzfactorian | i think this is a good summary of SS/FS/HS, but u should add a little more info. i use SS with my breakers, but i really never FS'ed. instead i quickslash or butterfly. flashstepping requires jamming too many keys at once and my fingers start hurting pretty fast. |
