| Gunzfactorian Patriot | I will be keeping this thread as my hub for any new things I should release for the screenshot glitching experiments I do whenever I play gunz. [Intro - What is Screenshot Glitching?] Simply, Screenshot glitching is like "delaying" an animation to finish at another time. It is a double edged sword, when used at the wrong time, you can get royally screwed over and get destroyed before you ever finish rendering that little image of yours or it can improve on movement and/or perform stylish techniques that you can do in your own time. So once again, it "delays" or "freezes" your animations. [How do I know if I can use it?] Well, not everyone can perform these SS glitches. If you jump and take a screenshot and you get a slight freeze or a longer one, then you can perform any of the tricks (maybe not all, but most of them), but if you dont see any freezing at all, then you cannot do any (Sorry for those who cannot do these). [How can I get settings to make it faster/slower?] If you get really long freeze times, I suggest to lower your resolution by one level down to increase speed by lots. If you want to change the speed by little bits, edit the other settings in the gunz video settings. If you have a really fast speed, I suggest to increase resolution, but if that doesnt work, then you have to use an outside source to cause "lag". ================================================== ===== NOTICE: Many of these can be used in unision (in combinations) of one another to create a whole new effect. Screenshot Movement Example Video: YouTube - GunZ - ScrnShot Movement [Screenshot Jump] (Super Jump): Basically, this is delaying the jump animation and finishing it at a later time. [Jump+Screenshot] **NOTE: The + means RIGHT AFTER or ABOUT SAME TIME The more freezetime/delay added to the animation, the higher you go basically. The less freeze time/delay, the shorter jump you make with the screenshot. If you have settings like mine in the video above, you can scale objects similarly. EDIT 9-06-08: There is a secondary Super Jump, which allows a HIGHER/FARTHER jump than the animation freeze Super Jump. This MAY lead to new types of screenshot tricks. [Screenshot>Hold Jump Key] [Screenshot Dash] (Super Dash): Same as above, but with just a dash. [Dash+Screenshot] [Screenshot Flip]/[Screenshot Dash Flip] Delaying flip may not be the best, but it lets you do other tricks like the no-jump instafall and etc. But when used with a dash, it lets you flip people from a FIXED distance (depending on your screenshot speed). [Flip+Screenshot] / [Dash+Flip+Screenshot] [Screenshot Tumble] If you tumble and screenshot during the beginning of tumble, you will unfreeze right at end of tumble animation, also lengthening the movement of the normal tumble to about 2x more. [Tumble+Screenshot] [Instant Stand] Ever get flipped or instafalled and cannot get up right away? Heres a method (though not the best) to get out of that mess . This is basically standing right after landing from a flip or flip combo. Thing is, you have to do it when your character is FULLY ON THE FLOOR. If you do any earlier or any later, you will TAKE LONGER to get off the floor than you normally would. It has to be timed right.[Land Fully on Floor+Screenshot] [Gun Screenshot Tricks] [Delay Shot] (DoubleShot): The double shot is basically delaying a "Single Shooter" (Ex. Shotgun, Rocket, Revolver) to shoot twice as fast, near or exact same time. If your screenshot speed is too fast, it doesnt do well but can make the shotgun fire like a machine gun. If too slow, you can fire two shots at same time, though you cannot tell by sound/gfx, you can see the ammo counter go down twice. Once you take the screenshot, hold the firing key during freeze and after the freezing ends, you will auto-fire. The first shot gets delayed to happen at second shot, thats why it works. [Screenshot+Hold firing key] [Tumble Delay Shot] Basically, this is one of the maneuvering/offensive tricks that can be performed. Basically, you tumble, screenshot, AND hold firing key at about near same time. The effect you get is that you tumble farther and a shot appears from spot you started from and a second consecutive shot appears at spot you unfreeze at. Down side is that you have to aim BEFORE you do and you aim again right before second shot AFTER you do. [Tumble+Screenshot+Hold Firing Key] [Jump Delay Shot] Same as the Tumble Delay Shot, except it can be used in a jump. The Aiming method is exactly same as TDS, aim+first shot before the jump, aim+second shot after freeze. [Jump+Screenshot+Hold Firing Key] [Sword/Kodachi Screenshot Tricks] [Reference]: YouTube - GunZ - SS Series Instafall [No Jump Instafall] This is delaying the flip to happen at same time as the slash. So if we use the concept of the delayed flip.... [Flip+Screenshot+Spam Slash] Depending on your screenshot speed, you may have to freeze it at a certain part of the flip BEFORE flipping point. When done right, you will appear in air after freeze and you will auto slash after end of freeze (a sword swing down motion) and will smack the guy down before he even lifts from the floor. You can also perform this with the dash flip.... [Dash+Flip+Screenshot+Spam Slash] All you have to do is memorizing your maximum dash distance with the dash+flip+scrn [No Slash Instafall] This is like...the better version of the gun instakill/instafall. Basically, right upon liftoff, they get shot and fall down immediately. Initial Setup: Make sure you face up above the enemy's head to perform this [Flip+Screenshot+Switch to Gun+Hold Firing Key] Also works with dash: [Dash+Flip+Screenshot+Switch to Gun+Hold Firing Key] [Massive Instafall] This is the only technical massive instafall I can do while standing on the same leveled floor as my opponent. Because of the timing (varies per speed), you may NOT get it 100% of the time. This requires the midair appearance after freezing as in the No Jump Fall. This is the first thing I ever invented but never claimed as my own. Initial Setup: A massive charge [Flip+Screenshot+Jump(During Freeze or Right at End of Freeze)+Massive Strike] If done right, you will appear in the air after the freeze and you will smash the enemy as they fly up, making them unable to safe land, also works with dash version: [Dash+Flip+Screenshot+Jump(During Freeze or Right at End of Freeze)+Massive Strike] [Massive Instakill] (Video in sig) This was a fun thing that me and my friends did. Its simple really... Initial Setup: Massive Charge [Flip+Jump+Screenshot+Massive Strike] Only problem is you need a good speed (fast one but has super jump) and the right timing for the midair strike to hit them as they safe. [DoubleSlash] This is same concept as DoubleShot, except you are spamming the slash key right in the middle of the slash animation. This will allow a max of 5 slashes per normal attack instead of 4. The effect is, you will have two simultaneous first slashes faster than quickslash. [Slash+Screenshot+Spam Slash during Freeze] Dagger Screenshot Tricks Some people (like me) cannot always do elunge forwards, backwards, or to the sides, so some of these may help those people do it 100% of time but at a price, you have less maneuverability during the lunge finishing animation. [SS Lunge] This is the screenshot variation of the lunge. The effect is, you can hit the person FARTHER from you (within about 10-15 steps ahead) while you see yourself only move one lunge distance away from starting point. [Lunge+Screenshot] [Dash SS Lunge] This is the screenshot's elunge (not really, but we will leave it at that). Basically, its the SS Lunge but goes farther. This works in all 4 directions. EDIT @ 9-06-08: This is now officially ash SS Lunge as Bolten found a method for a REAL elunge via screenshotting. [Dash+Lunge+Screenshot] If you cannot do this and need more help, I can make a video for anyone that requests it. ================================================== ===== Credits: All my friends on GunZ Online and the founder of the screenshot instafalls that inspired me to do more. Check my youtube profile, "lonesyndal" for any videos I may have left there. ================================================== ===== If you can contribute to this guide, then please send it via PM or post below. I DO NOT WANT FLAMING FOR THIS STYLE OF PLAY as its a legit playing style. Just like "kstyling" with its delay removal and the keys already on the keyboard, the screenshot glitches can be performed as long as the screenshot key exists. | Gunzfactorian Patriot | [Afterimage] Credits to KhaneFlarios. When you move in a direction, and right before you move in another, you screenshot, you will move in the direction you last moved in, but to others, they will see you moving in the first direction before you changed, thus creating the 'Afterimage' effect. The steps to doing this is as follows: [Move in a Direction+Change Direction of Movement+Screenshot Right during in between the first direction and change] More info added later once I compile the info from the replays with an actual fight scene with screenshot. [The Magic Dodge] (Magic Evade) This is a technique for people who use a fast screenshot or something similar to my speed. Any slower or laggier screenshot speed will automatically do this. This is one of the hardest things to pull off, basically because the timing for it is a b**** and sometimes the enemy just does something else instead of performing the actions that is required to make this happen. Situations: 1) If someone is about to flip you, and you cannot do anything but take the flip, you can always screenshot BEFORE HE STARTS THE FLIP. This will make you "freeze" through his/her flip and you will be standing at the spot you froze at after its done. You now have the advantage and can shoot/slash the enemy. 2) If someone is about to shoot/slash you, you can freeze yourself BEFORE the player pushes the firing/attack key. This will make you "dodge" all the shots (Including the 12 pellets from shotgun) or slashes done during the interval you freeze and unfreeze. (Also works on rockets) 3) If someone grenades a spot, you can freeze yourself BEFORE it explodes. This will let you come out unscathed by the explosion. Drawbacks: If you do any of these at the WRONG TIME, you will either add the damage done to happen at the end of the freeze time and will instantly take the damage, including any other attacks done during the interval you screenshotted OR the action such as the flip will happen even though the enemy did it before you froze. [Screenshot before an action is performed] RECOMMENDED: Using a screenshot movement tech works best with "Magic Dodge" [Super Grenade Throw] This is basically increasing your grenade tossing distance, whether it bounces and SLIDES across the map at a long distance or you throw it in a very large arc, it depends on when you screenshot your tumble+toss. [Tumble+Toss Grenade (Tossing when you about to "roll")+Screenshot] = Larger Arc Toss [Tumble+Toss Grenade (Tossing when you rolling "downward")+Screenshot] = Long Sliding Grenade [Super Med(HP n AP) Toss] Credits to remorsed. This is basically tossing a medpack farther than you normally could. [Face Up(Use full face up)+Hold Forward+Screenshot+Spam Med Until End of Freeze] You will see the med fly either a bit farther or ALOT farther from the spot you threw it at. [Active Screenshot] This is basically [Magic Dodge]'s cousin. This is a glitch requirng you to glitch your screenshot via alt+tab at same time you scrnshot or other methods. This sets screenshot to automatically take screenshots every 5-10 sec from one another, making you disappear and reappear all over the place. If used right, this is considered one of the most godly techniques used. It can dodge attacks at a higher rate of 75% than the 30-40% the Magic Dodge works at and has manueverability. There are no steps to this however, just find a method to glitch your screenshot. Credits to Bolten: Since I fought him, he actively used a screenshot technique where it was hard to hit and I had to predict his movement within 9 different locations or more. [Massive Shot/Slash] Credits to razaluna for thinking about delaying the massive animation for weapon purposes. Named by raza upon discovery. As it sounds, its screenshotting the massive to finish later. This allows you to fire/slash immediately after releasing that massive. If we base the technique to something similar like the [No Slash Instafall], we can switch during the freeze and hold the firing key/attack key to shoot at the same time as the massive. According to the speed of scrnshot, the faster your SS goes, the more delay is between the massive and the shot/attack. Initial Requirements: Massive charge [Release Massive Charge + Screenshot > 1) Spam slash, 2) Switch to gun + Hold firing key] ======================================= This post is also for videos or replays so it would be easier than searching through my wall of text. ======================================= 3/30/08 - Added the replay "DoubleShot.gzr" 4/5/08 - Added the replay "SuperNadeToss.gzr" 5/5/08 - Added the replay "DoubleSlashTest.gzr" 7/13/08 - Clarified "Active Scrnshot" 7/31/08 - Added some of Bolten's replays (Some are located in first post) Last edited by HellSyn; 07-31-2008 at 11:53 AM. |

| Gunzfactorian Patriot | HUGE EDIT: Adding secondary movement and some other stuff. What are "Secondary SS Tricks"? Secondary SS Tricks are SS glitches that require Screenshotting BEFORE performing any action compared to the first many tricks listed above. The list above are tricks usually performed DURING a given animation. Secondary SS Tricks are also known as "Shadow Steps" to some of the other fellow glitchers I have met. Also included into Secondary SS Tricks are Afterimage and its variants (Fake Jump), and some stuff below. Instant Animation Finish is added to this list for being unique amongst the others. Delayed Wall Hang is a Normal SS Glitch, but the 10k text max limits me from posting it up there. =============================== [Shadow Jump] **NOTE: This is also in the edit next to the Super Jump in first post** This is a jump that DOES NOT look like a jump. It is the thing that looks more like instant teleportation at my speed. This allows a jump to go much farther/higher than a super jump can. [Screenshot+Hold Jump Key During Freeze] [Shadow Dash] This is the same concept as Shadow Jump and the ELunge (SS Version, not SS Elunge) (posted by Bolten). This dash makes you instantly move in the direction you dashed during the freezetime, making it go longer than a Super Dash. [Screenshot+Dash During Freeze] [Fake Jump] (Upgraded version of Afterimage) This is something I came across by accidentally when trying to upgrade the Afterimage technique. I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS ON OTHER FORMS OF MOVEMENT YET. What this does is the same as afterimage, you jump but you DON'T jump in reality. You will be dashing in the direction you dashed to instead of jumping. To others, you are jumping really....really high. [Dash>Jump+Screenshot right as your character lifts off ground>Dash During Freeze] [Delayed Wall Hang] Delayed Wall Hang allows you to jump slightly higher when hanging. If timed right, you INSTANTLY hang on the wall at a higher position. Test this on High Haven pillars and see for yourself. Timing is different for everyone after all. [Jump>Wall Hang+Screenshot as your character is about to stab melee weapon into wall] [ELunge] (SS Version) Thanks to Bolten, we now have a REAL elunge done by using the SS to start off instead of using SS during the lunge animation. There is one thing though, there will be a slight gap in between starting position and the spot you start the lunge, but that is all gone if you use lower GFX settings. Also requires you to HOLD the lunge key. [Screenshot>Lunge+Dash DURING FREEZE] **NOTE: This works in all directions and works with flip for eflip** [Instant Animation Finish] (Based on Magic Evade) This is a screenshot technique based on Instant Stand (I.S. should be a 2ndary SS trick), Magic Evade, and etc., except you can do it on other animations. One such example is the Delayed Tumble in which it instantly finishes the tumble at end of screenshot freezetime. Basically, here are some examples: 1) Instant Land: If you are in the air, whether from a flip or from a high spot, you can screenshot during the halfway point and instantly land at the end of freezetime. 2) Instant Recoil Finish: If you get recoiled by slashing a block, screenshot during the halftime of the recoil animation to instantly finish the recoil animation. 3) Instant Massive Stun Finish: If you get stunned by a massive, screenshot during the halftime of the massive stun animation to instantly finish the massive stun animation. **NOTE: There are MANY more of these as one per each animation, though timing may be different** Last edited by HellSyn; 11-04-2008 at 11:55 PM. |

| Gunzfactorian Patriot | It works with all weapons, just that the auto type weapons dont need it since they spam alot already. Ill say this, right after you scrnshot, hold firing key. When the freeze finishes, continue holding the key until two shots fire. to get the result you want, you may have to increase the gfx/video settings on gunz. |
