Default Aim Improvement (Interactive Topic)

Ok, the biggest issue nowadays in gunz seems to be aim.
People who can rs yo-yo/tbf/all the good stuff and can't aim lose to people who just stand and shoot with good aim.

I am myself a horrible aimer, but I want to improve badly.

So, I invite all of you to share your knowledge of how to practice aiming/get your aim better.
What Is Aim?
There are 3 types of aim, tracking, moving, and situational aim.
Tracking aim requires a very well trained or very good spinal cord and brain messaging system. This can be somewhat learned through practice, but some people are born with the ability to be able to respond very quickly. Tracking aim is where you just follow the player with your crosshair and shoot at them when you feel like it. A way to practice this is to get into a training game with a friend with no other players and have your friend just move around dashing around flash stepping climbing walls etc. and you all you do is try to follow them with your crosshair, don't shoot just try to stand in one place and focus on keeping your crosshair in its pick as often as possible, do it for a minute or so then take a break then do it again. Train it as often as you can to refine it to its best.

Moving aim is where you use your body to aim for you. You will notice that when you move across the screen, your crosshair moves across the screen too. So basically what this means is you will move across the screen until your crosshair picks as it moves over the enemy and then you fire. (watch the replay attached for more detail). This is the aim most people use, even the pro's. The other version is to keep your crosshair basically centered and wait for the person to pass across your crosshair. This aim is best with Aerial movement, because with the air, you can move your crosshair in diagonal motions to track players easier. Basically the air makes you hard to hit and it is easier in my opinion to aim at them using this.

Situational aim - the third type, is, in general, predicting what your opponent is going to do. Basically you know where they are going to move so you just put your crosshair there, waiting for them to come (or shoot there if they are moving constantly and lagging).

Example of each:
Tracking, Moving, Situtational Aim

~Traumatize

Tips:
- Use dot crosshair, or maybe even no crosshair at all ~Ultega

- Use what ever weapons, but just concentrate and have a mental note that you want to improve your aim. ~NOTBARTENDER

- Tend to keep your aim up, your guns are no use if you are shooting the ground. ~Mad Hank

- Use this config:
http://www.gunzfactor.com/forums/f43...g_fps_lag.html ~Archetype

- Use this xhair:
http://www.gunzfactor.com/forums/att...-crosshair.png
http://www.gunzfactor.com/forums/att...shair_pick.png
~Archetype

- Use any sensitivity (there is no "best" sensitivity), but as a rough guide it should be high enough so that you can turn and look around quickly, but if your character spins around more than 3 times if you move your mouse along a standard mouse mat then you will have problems being accurate later on and should lower it ~Archetype

-When you SS try not to hold down click. Instead, I like to do two clicks. One to slash and one to shoot you're gun. It allows you to wait a second and aim if you don't have an open shot as soon as you switch to your gun. ~Aoshi538

- Memorize the distance you need to move your mouse to look a certain distance in the game. ~Amor

- If your monitor seems too low and it feels as if you are sitting above it, put it at face height, and sit quite far back and relax, I find comfort is a good tip for aiming, and try to keep thinking that you need to hit the mo' fo. ~Burgz123

- Try relying on 1 set of revs, your ammo is limited to one gun and you obviously have to hit in order to actually get kills. Don't bother k-styling while trying to aim at first. Try being a 'noob' and just aiming then when you need to fight back k-style if you want. ~Kreativity

- Read to see if there's a repetitive pattern that the opponent is doing and don't be afraid to use the map to your advantage. ~JoJo323

- Learn the to slow the movement of your enemy with your own movements. Such as tumbling at an angle to their strafing - cutting their evasiveness in half and setting up a perfectly aligned shot. FS and HHS are also good for that. ~SMiRK

- Don't aim exactly where you want to shoot. You need to lead ahead for both the lead and the dash. For example : You should generally aim half a body ahead for 25 ping to get a perfect pb. however, if they dash, you need to aim 1 body ahead, so you will end up SHOOTING when the target is half a body ahead. ~Scuba356

Practicing:
- Quest in mansion with quad revolvers. Make sure you don't stand at one place and spam, constantly move around on close/very close range, try your best to make every shot hit into the NPCs. ~Mad Hank

- Duel with quad revolvers. Aim, don't spam ~kissmydi*

- Take your melee weapon off and go to a duel. After a few hours, your aim should improve tremendously. Mad Hank

- learn to aim at stationary objects using revs (i.e. lamp posts in town), pick any target you want and as you get better make the targets smaller and your movement faster, try shooting from the air too. once you can accurately do this, you have control of your sensitivity which is required before learning to aim. ~Archetype

- Practice in hall duel matches; reason for this being that hall fights are mostly ground based so you can focus on that rather trying to learn aerial aim and ground aim all at once ~Archetype

- Practice by looking 45, 90, 180 degrees from a pole in Town. Find a sensitivity you're comfortable with and try to sweep your mouse to aim at the pole. After practice, this becomes second nature. Now try while Slashshotting, Half Stepping, and so on. After a while, you'll see your aim improve. Use Rifle/Rifle for accuracy and ammo. ~Amor

I am taking all suggestions, and I will make sure to give you credit!

for some reason i can't aim at all with low sensitivity @_@; i guess its because i started playing gunz with max sensitivity and i swing aim/predict or im just too used to it now. x-x; i forgot who, but there was a guy on gzf who posted a replay of training in battle arena using revs and moving around hitting each pole to aim o-o;

play more. if ur training against poles. ur gna be able to shoot poles well. if ur gna use revs. den do it if u want. im abit concerned with them cuz the delays are different so my style of playing with them changes to that with shotguns. what wins most of the games nower days is spam. so..... try aiming more when spamming?

-Make a training room, go to Town, do some aerobatics and as you're falling, aim for various windows some distance away with rockets. Yeah, rockets, so that way you can shoot a window from across the map and know where your shot landed. That far away with revs, and the bullet holes will disappear before you can get over there. But of course you can do that with revs as well. If you're closer to a wall and you're falling sideways, if you aim at a specific window that will give the feel of hitting a moving target.

-Use a good custom crosshair. I highly recommend this one made by The-Onciest, in the middle of the post, as not only does it have the dot for accuracy, but the ring helps give an idea of shotgun spread. The ring also makes it easier to identify if someone's in your sights, at least it did for me. There's also AccuraDot, and there's also small crosshairs with a full-screen _pick which might get across the idea of "hey you might wanna shoot now" a little better. But honestly though. I had been using a dot for a long time, then I switched to the one made by The-Onciest, and my K/D ratio went through the roof.

-Make a new account, start a new character, pick revs as your starting weapon, and practice away on the level 1 nubs. The tumble-and-spray mechanic is what you can expect the most, so when they're tumbling along the sides of the middle, aim from the middle of the middle and try to anticipate their movement. You might also want to try sniping from 3rd floor.

More later.

hitting stationary targets is easy as eating.

just play a lot, experiment, find what works, make things easier for you to aim.

It's just basically practice. You can't lose weight with some magical pill, likewise you cannot get pro aim by just using a magic crosshair or w/e

Just make things easier for you in any way

I prefer doing many clanwars, use what ever weapons, but just concentrate and have a mental note that you want to improve your aim.

I lol'd. By using a good crosshair, you ARE making it easier.

By playing too much your aim will improve. Aim is really more about reflexes, guessing and "feeling" where the opponent is. I can look another way if I know where my enemy is going to be when the shot goes off. And I know that most of the time.

Playing with no crosshair is also a good idea. I know someone who did that and don't use crosshair anymore. She has fuxpro aim, at least 8/10, even with revs.

Dot crosshair. Don't use an invisible at first, that's for when you have good aim and want to improve it to an exceptional level.

Also, it's a mental thing, but just try to really concentrate more on your aiming. I don't know about anybody else, but when I used to play Gunz I would play and after a while everything was just so second nature to me that I would practically not even need to pay attention to what I was doing, I would just DO it. If you really concentrate on when the dot is in the center of your target before hitting the fire button, eventually it'll become reflex and that's when you want to switch to no crosshair, to train your aiming reflex even more.

It gets better over time.

but if you want to make make aiming so much easier here you go :
http://www.gunzfactor.com/forums/f43...g_fps_lag.html

Makes GunZ runs faster and makes it easy to aim at people since it's more clear.

Oh yeah, and think before you shoot, this helps alot. Don't ever over think or you will screw up. Once you have gotten used to thinking before you shoot, you will get better over time and won't need to think to even aim, it will come as a reaction.

Most newbs don't think before they shoot, they just spam reload shot getting about 5/10 hits with shotgun, hitting like 1 pellet out of 12 on each of those hits hardly hitting anything, thats why 3 concentrated well thought out shots will probaly get someone to yellow/red/dead from full
