![]() | Just thought I would toss this out in case there are still players out there who don't know the full range of blocking styles. Many people in gladiator games complain that some of the techniques like double butterfly, triple butterfly, and angled slashes are impossible to block. But it is a fact that every type of attack (even flips) can be blocked. However, blocking in a gladiator game is useless without being able to stun your opponent, so this guide focuses on that aspect. This guide will assume you know the basics. Basic (Required Knowledge) Regular Block - Simple block that everyone uses. Effective against straight forward slashes . Sky Block - Used against normal reverse massive. Effective to an extent against ground slash. Ground Block - Used against skybreak/ sky reverse massives. Advanced (Stun Guide) Mirror Block - This block will block all reverse massives, sky, ground, normal, or phased. Simply turn 180 degrees at the same time as your opponent is about to use reverse massive. Obviously that leaves you open to people who use normal massives. Moving Block - A type of blocking style used to stun double butterfliers. The key that allows dbfly to bypass block is that dbfly slashes are in the air, and therefore out of the swords blocking hitboxes. So to stun dbfliers, simply jump against them with block up(or stand there and let them come to you) and when their sword hits your block on the same level, the sword will be in range of the hitbox again, and they will be stunned. An added benefit is that when they are stunned on the ground, if your release the reverse massive immediately while in the air, the massive will go through the block as if it was a sky massive. If you look up when releasing the massive, this is known as an upper sky massive, and is unblockable unless the player is also looking down while in the air and blocking. Sword Glitch Evade - Ever notice sometimes when your flipping someone, they land on their back, and you try to flip them again while they are getting up, but the flip doesnt work? The reason is because actions cannot occur during an animation. This is the same reason why slashes cant hit a dagger while the dagger is lunging. If a player can time it right, can evade a flip by slash, block, and then double tapping in a single direction(also known as the sliding glitch). However the timing is very difficult as to make this almost useless. Extended Block - This is a way to carry a block beyond an initial hit. Normally a block is dropped once it has been hit and received a massive. To continue a block beyond the one hit limit, there are 2 ways. One is to dash, jump and block in a single direction. While in the air to ground, the block can carry additional slashes without being dropped. The second way is to borrow on the slide glitch, slash, block, double tap in a direction, block again, and the block should carry until the end of the slides duration. Thats all I have for now, will add more later. |

Lol I love how they dubbed my move "Mirror Block". Call it what you want, but I wouldnt say thats an appropriate name, cause not all cases are to block in the sense of a mirror reflection. And if you are looking down or up when you "Mirror Block" and they too look down or up, you still get massived. Massives and blocks are all dependant on which direction you face. If there's anyone who should make a blocking guide its me >.> But i'm too lazy. Last edited by Deviok; 09-02-2007 at 09:47 AM. | |

| Gunzfactorian Guardian | Interesting guide. Actually.. the only thing that's interesting is the slash blocking to get out of the flip. Mind elaborating more on that? Interesting theory, but do you mind showing us a few replays? |
