| Member  |  Guide to "Gamer Abbreviations" Ok so lately people have been saying words they really don't understand in-game, so i've decided to make a big guide of all the words I know and the meanings. Here goes. NOOB NUB NWB NEWB - "Newbie" someone who is new to the game or very inexperienced for there level, this is tossed around too often. LOL - Laughing out loud, In most cases you really aren't. KIK - "LOL" for the typing-impaired. ROFL - You are "rolling on the floor laughing". Obviously, if you were really rolling on the floor you would be unable to reach the keyboard to express your delight. ROFLMAO - You are "rolling on the floor laughing your ass off". Completely overcome by mirth, you respond to the funniest thing you've heard in days by collapsing into helpless laughter. LMFAO ("Laughing my fat arse off"); LMTAO ("Laughing my thin arse off"); LMAAO ("Laughing my average arse off") - Variation depends on your self-image! Woot! - Gee, that went well. Wow! We killed that sum*****. FTW! - "For the win!" PWN or PWNED -- "Thr styff of lemgendz: Gamer defeats gamer, types in 'I pwn you' rather than I OWN you. 'This word is just an overly used Internet typo. GRATZ! - "Congratulations". OMG - "Oh My Goodness!" or "Oh My Gosh!" or "Oh My God!" For those moments when you wish to express your shock, dismay, or other similar emotion; like that moment when you have 50 Goblin Skulls yet no Crimson Necklace. STFU - "shut the %#&@ up" Nice people never use this phrase. JK - "just kidding" You better say it quick. Absence abbreviations. RL - "real life" BRB - "be right back" AFK - "away from keyboard" BIO - short for "biological" - ie, you are taking a potty break. ATM - "at the moment" OTW - "on the way" Slang terms for jobs in game. Healers - Duh, the people that heal. The most beloved, yet most maligned, of any job in team play. When the team lives, the healer is the greatest thing since sliced bread. When the team dies, the healer takes the blame. You need a thick skin to be a healer. Camper - The person who camps, they basically sit around in once place all game not doing much and only killing when someone runs straight at them. Sprayer - God, they get all the blame no matter what. People seem to just call sprayers every name under the sun and most of all "Noob." Even if you save the day by killing the whole team you won't get congratulated you will get cussed. Computer Malfunctions. Lag - Lag means to slow, due to excessive memory use or slow Internet connection. Commonly found in graphic-intensive or player-intensive environments, lag causes a huge slowdown in your character's movement, often leading to disaster. Lag kills. DC - "disconnected from server", LC - "lost connection" or LD - "link dead". You are standing there, guns held loosely at your side. You are not fighting back. Your connection to the game is gone, but for 5 or 10 seconds or longer you are at the mercy of your foe. You are now dead. S@%# - What you say out loud in RL when you DC. I have covered most of the slang that I know but there is more out there and I know I haven't covered it all so feel free to post positive criticism, and maybe even post your own words and definitions. | Banned | Re: Guide to "Gamer Abbreviations" Here are the most common ones i see: gg no re = Good game, no rematch, almost always said with the purpouse of dissing someone, sometimes used as a joke (by me ^_^ it's my favorite line) fux pro = Fcking pro, really pro, better than a simple pro, is often said in a friendly way macro = Keys F1 to F8 used for quick messages, 90% of the ones you see are retarded things like "your death was sponsored by Mc Donalds" and "a rose for your death" or other ones that lack originality/humor/intelligence no u = This is considered to be the ultimate comeback to any insult someone throws at you but it's often used in a friendly way among people who know each other X more = Sarcasting expression. Newb - Someone completely new to the game and getting used to it and has potential. Noob - Someone who has been playing for a long time and still completely sucks, and should just quit. Noob is thrown around way to much like you said but...its what this community has adapted to for its general insult lol... |

| Gunzfactorian | Re: Guide to "Gamer Abbreviations" Needs gtfo, bb, wb, and cc. I've been asked about the last two FAR too often. Pretty nice idea for a guide anyway, although I doubt the people who don't know such abbreviations aren't likely to come here looking for them. |
