![]() | Well well well, who IS THIS!? Well, I don't feel the need for some big fancy introduction. I played with people like Cerb and iDark almost a year ago, either as Jugstlye or Jikuim. Was in Chocolate and Cerb's cult. That's all you need to know. :P Who are YOU to be writing a guide? What do you care? XD Kidding. I play alot of gladiator, and I consider myself to be, well, really good. I don't keep track of who's king anymore, and who matters, but I'm always on showwing off to level 15's, because I'm too lazy to level. I promise, I know what I'm talking about though. THE GUIDE! : 1. - Basics. Sword/Kodachi. Which to use? +Sword +Kodachi 2. - Basic Combat +Clicking? WTF. +Shift. +JUMP! +Dash. 3. - Advanced Basics? Red Orange... >.>; +The BLOCK CANCEL! ![]() | OMG. I JUST STARTED. The basics. What do you want to do? 1. - SWORD CHOICE! Kodachi To be honest, I dislike these. That's not to say they don't have their upsides, though. Kodachis are two smaller swords held in either hand. They are heavier (there's 2 >.>) than swords, but much quicker (there's 2 >.>;;; ). They also have a different "special attack", or, more commonly known, uppercut. They have the ability to run, and then uppercut the enemy. They also have many different uses due to their quick attacks, such as the nearest to a true "instafall" one can achieve, and a very deadly voidstep and stalk. Good for those who want to look cool, too. ![]() Sword My babies! I adore swords, to be honest. Yes I know, I sound biased, but hey, whatever. Swords are a solid balance, and don't have a single focus. They're still fast enough to work well, but stronger than kodachis. They also weigh less. The swords right click, (uppercut) is also stationary. This can be good or bad. They seem, at least to me, to have more fluent movements as well, which makes harder moves seem easier to me when learning them at first. END NOTE! You must also think. Kodachis hit faster, but are weaker. If you're constantly being blocked, you're only giving massives and wasting hits with a kodachi. If you get in strong, well placed single hits when you need to, and you're good at it, swords are much better. Also, if you're going to be BFing or DBFing, there's no need for kodachis, speed has no effect, so sword is the clear winner there. On the other hand, when voidstepping or sometimes stalking kodachi is the clear choice due to speed. 2. - BASIC COMBAT! This is going to be quick and painless, if you don't know these, leave this guide. You shouldn't be THIS NEW. RIGHT CLICK - UPPERCUT. Flip the opponent into the air, if they don't safe fall, they hit the ground and lay for a moment. Goes through blocking. CLICK - SLASH. Slash. If clicked multiple times, you slash many times, up to 4. If you hit someone's block, you bounce off and are momentarily stunned. Hold slash to charge for a massive. When finished, click again to release. SPACE - JUMP. Jump. Not hard. When flipped by uppercut, mash this button to make sure you land safely. If not, face death. W, A, S, D. Movement. Double tap a single key to dash in that direction. Enjoy. 3. - THE FIRST ADVANCED TECHNIQUES! THE BLOCK CANCEL Block cancelling.. what is it? Well, not only is it the basis of all Kstyle, it's the basis of gladiator itself. When you click, you slash. This slash will register just shortly after you click, creating the slash, but the animation will continue on uselessly. Why do we want that?! Well, we don't. That leaves us open. Block cancelling is the way we Gunz users have found around these useless animations. If you're to click, and block very shortly ever, the slash registers, creating a hitbox and damaging an opponent (or that wall your practicing on), yet the block will cancel the animation, allowing us to slash again just shortly thereafter! MOVES ASSOCIATED WITH THE BLOCK CANCEL GROUNDSLASH CANCEL : CLICK - SHIFT : Click once, then block. A small amount of timing is required in this, for if you just clickblock in one fluid motion the slash won't register. Useful for things later like juggling and downslashing, don't use it regularly. DOUBLEGROUNDSLASH CANCEL : CLICK - CLICK - SHIFT: Wow, I love this move. Don't walk around facing straight ahead and do this to people, it won't work. I'll explain in detail how to go about using and abusing this move later in the guide. You click twice, and wait for the first slash to FINISH before blocking. The second slash registers almost immediatley, leaving you with your guard up while the opponent gets hit. How very useful. TRIPLE/QUADGROUNDSLASH CANCEL CLICK - CLICK - CLICK - CLICK/SHIFT: I wouldn't touch these, they're really a waste in my opinion, and a double slash could be quicker in any situation. BUTTERFLY(OMG) : JUMP - DASH - SLASH - BLOCK or JUMP - SLASH - BLOCK- DASH: The butterfly. Well, this IS the gladiator's bread and butter, and has been for the longest time. It's slowly becoming out of fashion, but it's still used by a huge amount of Gunz players for usually the entire fight. This move is simply a jump and then a dash, which those of you just starting to learn the butterfly should try and practice, jumping and dashing. As soon as you get used to jumpdashing around quickly, add a slash. Then continue jumping, dashing, and slashing until comfortable, and then add the block. This move shouldn't be rushed, you can take it as slow as you like. BF does indeed need practice to be used well, but it should be taken slowly as it's being learned. BUTTERFLY (using butterfly) : Alright, when to use this move is really touchy. ALOT of idiots will go BFing around a turtle without doing anything special. They get knocked back, and go "TURTLE LOL". Yeah, because the turtle sucks for owning you? No. Butterflying should be done in a fashion that you stay a certain distance away, and have the enemies block not effect you, or in a way that gets you behind the opponent. It should never be done straight into the face of someone guarding. That's just dumb. ![]() UPPERCUT CANCEL : RIGHT CLICK - BLOCK: When you're trying to flip your opponents, get used to doing this every time, and get used to when the flip registers. This is used later for alot more reasons than it is at the start, it seems useless unless you know what it's for, but practice it.[/color] Last edited by Jikuim; 07-19-2007 at 09:41 AM. |

![]() | I don't see why I'd care. ![]() That guide seems pretty outdated, and it just has single moves, plus it's missing anything that's considered andvanced. Don't flame just to tell me another guide exists, a guide for EVERYTHING exists. >.>; |
