![]() | Everyone's ping to themselves is 0. I think ping determines how long it takes to connect with the other computer, or something. That's the reason why you can see ping for other people, but yours is 0. |

![]() | I think ping has two factors. Like Synthesis said it is the time it takes for the two players to connect (yours and other player's connection speed). That and the location of the other player also can determine ping. A person might be 150+ ping, but not necessarily have a bad connection with you. That is called a distance lag. | Gunzfactorian Guardian | Indeed true. Ping is how long it takes to connect with someone. You have 0 ping because it takes no time to connect to yourself... Someone with high ping 'lags' and will likely be harder to hit. Ping that is around 90-150 is distance lag usually and is pretty unhelpable. Sometiems there'll be 200+ ping which can be related to to many programs that use much space at ocne or bad internet. Who knows though. Just remember to aim ahead of someone with 150+ ping. >.> |

| Gunzfactorian Postcount Demi-God | Ping (Source) Basically, your computer sends out a signal across the internet to the other user's computer. If the computer recieves your signal, it sends another signal back, confirming that a connection has been established. The number you get for ping is actually the amount of time it takes for the signal to be sent/recieved by your computer. The number is in milliseconds. 100 ping = 1/10th a second A typical equasion in calculating ping would be: (your)Process Time + (to)Distance Time + (user)Process Time + (from)Distance time = Ping (ms) |
