Clan Interview: Sparta

History

Introduction
Sparta began as an alternate clan for Ocean, a place to store characters that weren’t being used in Ocean. Sparta used and popularized the Greek god names that ended in ¡¢. The clan was essentially used as a practice ground for the lower members of Ocean and a place to have fun and enjoy competition.

The Beginning
Due to leadership problems, Ocean slowly began to deteriorate and everyone decided to leave, Confucious thought that Sparta would be a great place to hang out until things were better, so Confucious, Shot, and ¤Ramp» joined back to Sparta and began to clanwar, they slowly worked their way up the ladder and maintained a superb ratio as the three strived to become better. As time went on, the clan began to fall apart due to inactivity. The three core members split up and went their separate ways while Confucious remained, Shot left to create his own clans and ¤Ramp» joined Flower.

The Next Generation
Confucious spoke to a few members of Ocean that he had been close friends with, after weeks of convincing, he pulled in Alinda, Daisuke¡¢, and Meow Mix and they became the next generation of Sparta. The four slowly clanwarred and worked their way up the ladder for months. The clan began to die out again. History repeated itself and Sparta was left inactive and the members all went their separate ways.

The Reunion
Tired of clanwarring without his close friends, Confucious decided to make a few alternate clans and to not represent Sparta with the next generation of Sparta. During this time, Shot’s clan Ares had risen up in ranking and Sparta and Ares slowly became rival clans, the two clans feuded constantly, each clan beat each other down. It was almost like an inter-clanwar of Ocean since most members had roots within that clan. Eventually, Confucious grew tired of always fighting against the people he was once close with. Confucious made an offer to Shot to close his clan, come back to Sparta, and make amends to what had been done wrong. Shot gladly agreed and the two formed an impeccable alliance, that would never be broken.

The Revival
Shot and Confucious began to clanwar often bringing popularity back for Sparta and making it noted that they were back. Confucious brought in his next generation of Sparta players and began to recruit new, highly skilled players. Former members and new faces began to appear and request to join. From then on Sparta became a tightly knit clan and their dominance of ijji Gunz almost seemed endless.

Questions and Answers

Q1. Who were the members who participated in the tournament? Which four were in the final match?

A1. Confucious, Shot, Omega, Rain

Q2. Did you think you could win the tournament without a problem, or did you see numerous tough clans blocking the victory?

A2. No I didn’t feel that we had an easy road ahead of us at that time. I believe our hard work, perserverance, and faith within ourselves is what placed us as one of the most heavily favored clans. There were many other top tier clans that were competing alongside us such as Forever, Magicians, Standard, Revived, Heroics, Abyss, Mutuality, Asthaparhim, Arashi, Back2Basics, and WingisMonky. These are clans that have been around and together much longer than we have.

Q3. What was your favorite match of the tournament (doesn’t have to be the final one)?

A3. Forever vs Sparta was my personal favorite because of our history as rival clans.

Q4. How important was teamwork to your victory? Vital, or did each members individual skill exceed the other teams teamwork?

A4. Teamwork was an essential part to our success in the tournament. Without it we would just be a random group of people thrown together for the tournament. Teamwork is vital to any great team, the individual skills of our members were all strong, we exceeded most teams just simply by our teamwork. I don’t believe in individuals, I view team play from each team member’s perspective, as opposed to living for myself, I live for my team.

Q5. Are you looking forward to entering a future tournament?

A5. Yes, definitely! Although we’ve had to make a roster change, Sparta will definitely be seen in the upcoming tournaments. The current team is Myself, Shot, and Omega, we’re still currently looking for a potential fourth. I’ve spoken to GM Xander and Devilito personally on numerous occasions and they stated that the next tournament is slated for October, 2008. They were also hoping for some time in the near future to have a Champions only tournament, where every clan that has won the previous tournaments compete against each other.

Q6. If you could change one thing about the ijji clan tournaments, what would it be?

A6. One thing I would change is the amount of ijji clan tournaments being held each year. Tournaments is usually what keeps Gunz alive and brings the competitive aspect of Gunz to a whole new level. A lot of veteran players return to participate and a lot of new faces step up to the plate. All of them taking a shot at the top spot in order to have bragging rights as the new number one clan. What’s better than that?

*As you can tell this is dated back from the previous tournament. Sparta will be reinterviewed within the next month for a fresh one.

Clan Interview: Basic

Clan History

When ijji Gunz came out in late 2006, the clan name was changed to Anathema temporarily (since Basic was supposed to be reserved). Basic has achieved many milestones during its tenure in Gunz, such as posting a #1 ranking, a 94% win percentage, and a legit 204 win streak during the peak of ijji gunz (without dodging, like some clans). Basic has only participated in one tournament so far, winning it while losing only a total of 13 rounds in the entire tournament. The clan is basically inactive, and its doubtful to make an active return.

Questions and Answers

Q1. Who were the members who participated in the tournament? Which four were in the final match?

A1. ncsu stylee, Twinkan, Omega, and Fujimi

Q2. Did you think you could win the tournament without a problem, or did you see numberous tough clans blocking the victory?

A3. We were happy to see there would be some decent competition, at least compared to the first tourny, but were still pretty certain we’d win (except Omega who thought we were going to lose every match), just not as easily as we did.

Q3. What was your favorite match of the tournament (doesn’t have to be the final one)?

A3. They were all relatively simple I guess, but the most satisfying was probably Back2Basics, just because of how much they’d run their mouths regardless of how mediocre they were/are; I think 11-1 sent the right message.

Q4. How important was teamwork to your victory? Vital, or did each members individual skill exceed the other teams teamwork?

A4. Very important. We only played 1 4v4 together before the tourny, but knew we’d be ok. We played all EU teams, and with 3 USA’s and 1 EU it could have been very tricky if we had played smart teams. Our plan to handle it worked out well though.

Q5. Are you looking forward to entering a future tournament?

A5. Doubtful, Twinkan is the only one I know of that plays on a semi-regular basis, and I can’t see myself having any time for that. I’m sure Omega will hop to whatever clan he thinks has the best chance to win the next tourny, and no idea what Fuji is doing.

Q6. If you could change one thing about the ijji clan tournaments, what would it be?

A6. Probably less maps and no prem meds. Town and Mansion are the gold standard in maps, and only 1 or 2 extra (Garden?/Castle?) should be used. Prem meds force people to play much more passive and rounds take way too long; IGunz clanwars were much more fun.

Clan Interview: Strike

Clan History

It all started from IGunZ. Me, Mc_Themax, and Horror aka Caprice were the first founders of Strike. I found Mc_themax in a town TDM. The name was familair to be because it’s a Korean singers name. I asked him “are you Korean?” and he said “yeah” and he was pretty decent in skill. So me, Max, and Horror (whom I had known for a long time) made the clan Strike. We started as a small clan, there were no tryouts or anything. Invite only. I started to invite people that I had known for a long time. After that we just grew and became the clan we’re known as today.

Questions and Answers

Q1. Who were the members who participated in the tournament? Which four were in the final match?

A1. The members were me (scream), rainl, horror and genre. We played the whole tournament with this lineup, no subs.

Q2. Did you think you could win the tournament without a problem, or did you see numberous tough clans blocking the victory?

A2. Honestly, I never thought we would win seeing as I han’t played gunz since we won the first tournament. So there was short amount of time that we had to practice and link our teamwork together.. a lot of the clans were rough and tough. Especially elemental with their best line up was just scary…

Q3. What was your favorite match of the tournament (doesn’t have to be the final one)?

A3. My favorite match of the tournament… I would have to say it was vs Ocean in the final. It was the most epic game I’ve ever played. When the score was 10-5 Ocean, match point, we almost gave up but we were patient. 10-6 10-7 10-8 10-9 , 10-10 draw. I dont know exactly how that happened, but a draw is a draw which led to the sudden death match. 1 win = win the tournament. Both Strike and Ocean were patient, pushing and pulling. For 6 straight rounds we kept drawing and the admin told us to play a new game in Factory. Who ever got 3 points first wins the tournament. we led to 2:0 .. we were so excited that we loosened up too much and they caught up to 2:2… last round.. and when horror died first, I almost felt that we would lose but dramatically, genre kills 2 of the ocean member amazingly.. I dont know how that happened but after that we killed everyone and after killing the last one we were all screaming and chanting over the vent LOLLL ! It was just so dramatic… I really respect ocean for not whining and crying during the tournament. I was impressed at ocean beating all those toughest clans. Respect.

Q4. How important was teamwork to your victory? Vital, or did each members individual skill exceed the other teams teamwork?

A4. I dont know how many times I’ve said this but teamwork is always over the individuality. We are not individualy as good as people from elemental. Their individual skills are just amazing, but thats not how we won the tournament. Teamwork is always the first thing to us and all the clans that won the gunz tournament have that same thing in common. They are bonded together as a team.

Q5. Are you looking forward to entering a future tournament?

A5. I am not going to participate in the next tournament, but I’m hoping that my other members from the tourney will. Next tourney im hoping to see other great players with different tactics rather than spamming rs with prem meds on.

Q6. How does it feel to not only be the first tournament winners, but also the current two-time reigning champions?

A6. I think we have done our best to reach it to the top. I really thank my members for supporting me throughout the 2 tournaments. Genre, rainl, dramatic and horror. We have been playing together since the beginning of ijji gunz in Genre. We believed in each other and thats what made us so good with teamwork and tactics. I feel accomplished and I’m glad that we won the tournament a second time. If you guys didnt know about this, rain has won the 3 tournaments in a row..from Strike, Sparta and then Strike again. He’s gotten unlimited Deties, Gun Knight and Battle Brood LOL. So yeah, respect to him.

Q7. If you could change one thing about the ijji clan tournaments, what would it be?

A7. It would be changing prem meds to normal meds. The very first tournament was really fun to play because we all had to use normal meds. People use different weapons like avenger that have good damage, but have low ammo. But using prem meds will get u back into a good shape, which gets frustrating. It’s more intense to see the games with the normal meds on than prem meds.

I apologize for getting this and the ones to follow out so late. As you can tell it is a couple months out of date. I was delayed, and then they were taken off my mind and I was only recently reminded.
